Yep. As long as it isn't red or blue and if it doesn't flash, then good to go.

That's why I chose amber. I hacked up a couple of LED strips and added my own controller that I can program to do whatever I want it to do. I have a short video on YouTube.

Of course you could go all out and light up the grill too. :D

I saw this a long time ago and almost went that route. This is the "Night Raider" marketed by Plasma glow. The thing I didn't like was it doesn't look like you can speed it up or change the pattern. That's why I got something else, hacked it up and made my own version.

Don't get me wrong. Yours is nice too. :D

Yeah, I agree a soft glowing light behind the mesh would look really cool! Good luck, girly!:D

And Plasma Glow hijacked it from the TV series Night Rider. lmao.

Yeah....but they did a lame job of it.

I searched the internet for weeks to find what I was looking for in amber. There's lots of red and blue (and green) out there. Even after I got what I ordered, I still had to modify it to do exactly what I wanted it to.

I contemplated doing one of these recently. Rad Red was so oxidized and terrible looking.
Pretty lucky to have a buddy in the local Toyota Body Shop and contacted him. $50 for them to remove the plastic insert and repaint it. Glad I went that route. :D

Actually back in the day of that show, it was far from a lame job. Nowadays, yeah. I actually installed one of those knock-offs from the show on my 1980 mustang. I had a factory hood scoop. I forgot I had it on one time and drove down University Blvd in Denton, TX. Got pulled over pretty fast and got a ticket.:(

The lame job I was referring to was the PlasmaGlow product. ;)

I can picture you driving with those red lights flashing away with no way to see them from inside the car, ooops!

I will eventually make some kind of custom control panel that I'll integrate into the dash and it will have indicator LEDs that will mirror what is going on in the hood scoop so I don't have the same thing happen to me.

Good idea! I was all DERP when I got pulled over. The cop was cool about it though, just made me unplug it right there....after the ticket. hahaha

I did mine. I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

You could always use a "legal" color such as amber like I did, but with that color truck, it just screams BLUE !!!

That sure would look good with blue backlighting behind the grill and in the scoop.... It's probably a good thing I don't have a speedway blue truck.
