Painting middle bowl inside headlight.

it will not effect light out put if that is your concern. it has no bearing on the light other than to be cosmetic from the back side however that is where the optic is do not paint that part that may negatively effect light out put and or clarity.

 

I now have a spare set of lights that will get the BHLM done to it and i will paint the inside piece.

I just need to figure out how guys are making there blinker lense orange to match the reflector. Once i get that done I'll start tearing them apart after the new year, I'll put pics up for all to see next month!

If anyone knows how to get the blinker lense orange PLEASE LET ME KNOW
It'll jump start this project!

 

vht shades its a clear paint on tint do the inner side of the lens but, if you have dtrl watch out as things tend to get hot in there

 

I looked on VHT's web site and can't find any tinting products that come in orange, i could only find red and black which is not what i want, but thanks for looking tho bud!

 

That would make my lights look sick I want to see what it looks like!

It would look really sick if you painted the middle and then did your blinker and reflector the same color as your fogs!

I have been talking to Nightstr and he told me to get some window stain paint for the orange which i did and have begun to stain the blinker lenses. You could use this technique for your stuff MOT!

I pulled that center piece (whole point in this thread) and found that the back side of it is already black, i don't think it serves any light reflection purpose at all, so as others have stated painting this will not hinder anything! I'll put up pics tomorrow when i get a little further and start painting the bezel and center piece!

Thanks rcfreak201 I haven't got em in the truck yet but i did hold a flashlight behind them and didn't see any light being reflected off of the middle piece. I'm pretty sure its more of a shield and neither the inside or outside of the bulb serve no purpose other than that. I'll put more pics up when i get them done. Just finished scrapping off all the old sealent and trying to get the reflector color to match the lense a bit more!

 

from what I have been reading about headlights, that bowl in the middle is mainly to keep from blinding people with the light bulb. lol was thinking about coloring it yesterday too.

 

I like the inner reflectors painted like this... Where can i find this paint???

 

if this picks up, you might be able to find one on eBay, but as of now it's a mod.

 

I just used krylon fusion in gloss black! Tinted the lenses with krylon glass stain spray.

 

Did u use the color "yellow" cause that's all I've been able to find in krylon? The cap did resemble the more amber color though.. I shoulda just sprayed the shelf or the floor like everyone else does.. Lol

 

Yea it is thE yellow can, it just takes a lot of coats to get it to start turning orange. Buy 2 cans and do a lot of really light coats. Really light. If you go to heavy it will run and you'll have a dark orange spot!
