I am painting my center caps black at the moment and think it will look good on my blacked out tacoma with stock rims. I am curios about painting the rims though any one have an experience and advice that they could offer me? I thought about just getting them poweder coated but if there is a faster alternative ill go that route. Im not to worried about fucking up my rims and caps I have a complete other set that is off a stock trd the second it came off the lot

first off what kind of rims do you have? here is what i did to mine. i went with a metallic gun metal gray. i have stock steel ones. i washed the rims, sanded them a bit, used a self etching primer, then 2-3 coats of color. still looks good 6 mo. later.

i liked this color better than black with my sliver taco

^^this. just use "wheel paint" from your local auto parts store. that way if you scratch them wheeling, you just get the can out and touch them up. way cheaper than powdercoating

Thanks they are the 17" alloy the same on every stock TRD model. I would have to sand blast them because of the finish on them wouldnt let the paint stick too well

with the caps I sanded them and used a self etching primer and a high qaulity paint they are drying as I type and seem to be doing good however when i did my front toyota symbol i sanded and used a self etching primer and it chipped bad and i am just now re doing it I only let it cure for like a day and i believe that was my issue so ill let it cure for the full 7 days
