i picked up a set of the 15in toyota spokes that came on the tacomas. Picked them up for next to nothing. No tires on does have some road rash that I can take care of on the cnc mill. I plan to powdercoat them as I have access to everything needed for powdercoating just have to pay for powder thats it. Just unsure on what color. I have a jade inca mica colored truck. Its the dark green.

I could, but that means I'd be driving on wheels that should technically be curing. :notsure:

Plasti Dip them!!! I took one off at a time and sprayed them. Took one can, and less than 2 hours to do all 4. Granted it will come off in time, but at $6 a can and about a half hour per wheel, including taking it off, cleaning it and putting it back on, I can just keep doing it. Just make sure its a hot day or else it takes considerably longer to dry.

Yeah, I don't know about the Dip man. I tried it on my console, etc and it wasn't a good experience :)

I might try it first and see how long it lasts. But I'm pretty set on using wheel paint.

    Thanks.

I'll probably end up doing that... maybe do it on a weekend day so I don't really have to go anywhere.

I was hesitant at first. I tested it out on my civic, and liked how it turned out. I just dipped the wheels this last monday, so it hasnt been tested yet. We'll see how it works...

Clean, spray on in thin coats. Let dry between each coat. Its super easy. Search plastidip on here. Theres a huge thread all about it.

Yes..and no..i would sand the original wheel a bit to make the paint stick a bit better.

    YES!

You can alternate the spare man! i did it that way. One wheel at a time. I swapped one rim out with my spare. Prepped and painted it, then just let it cure for 6 hours or so, then put it back on the truck but put the spare on a different hub and painted another wheel. You can do this in a a few weekends easy. Too two days to do mine (4 wheels).

Of course I'd prep and paint the wheel weight the same.

I was just wondering if it's okay to leave the weight on, and do the whole process, eventually covering it in paint.

I understand when it comes time to balancing new tires, it'll get all FUBAR'd but I'll cross that bridge when the time comes.

If it's only 6 hours to cure, a time I would have to wait if I did just one wheel or all four, then I'd just do all four and get it done in one shot.

oh, ya i left my weights on. Its easy to just spot up the unpainted spot when you get them rebalanced.

and if you have the jack stands for it and an empty saturday..do it  just keep in mind it take about an hour to prep and paint each wheel properly.
