Painting Sliders what would you use?

Made use of the sliders. Looked like the Rustoleum professional paint held up great.

 

Nice work guys. Hey you should try Edge Seal on your grip tape to prevent it from peeling works like a charm.

Honestly mine didn’t require edge seal. Just get a good grip tape like 3M and you shouldn’t have issues.

 

I did a base coat of POR-15, then sprayed with rustoleum truck bed liner so it had a nice texture (grip) to it

I used Rustoleum Bedliner and it looks great until now.

 

Rustoleum self etching primer. Painted using Rustoleum hammered black. The hammered finish has some grit so it’s not so slippery.

 

That was what i used first, but road grit and sand/salt took it off in a hurry on the underside.

 

I live in SoCal. There’s sand but I don’t have to worry much about salt except for maybe once per year when I actually drive where there is snow. But you bring up a good point...where you live plays a part in how you should paint them. I’ve had mine on for 6 months and no wear at all except for were I crunched on a rock.

 

hehe, well that's called putting it to good use. I just stopped touching them up this summer from "crunches". will do it once winter starts rolling in and i take a break from off road fun.

 

Every piece of offroad gear I get I slap rustoleum on it. If you're using the armor, all that money spent into powdercoating goes to waste

 

Im trying to get mine finished but with the rain and humidity in Houston, I haven't been able to. I started with a coat of Ospho and am going to do self-etching primer and a heavy duty enamel spray paint.

 

How long are you guys letting the self etching primer dry before spraying your top coat on?

 

I put the primer on and then waited until the next evening - so around 24hrs

 

I finally found the technical data sheet from rustoleom and they say after 30 minutes you can top coat.

 

I’m not surprised. It dries pretty fast. I only waited because I didn’t have time that same day.

 

talk about short on time lol.Sunset was at 515 and I finished at 545 I was literally outside spraying with a flashlight. Let me tell you tho, right at dusk with a good flashlight made it awesome to see light spots.After hours of reading and research I settled with a product called upol raptor liner and I could not be happier.It looks unreal and ive only done the initial coating and tbh im not sure I'm going to do another coat because I covered 99.9% of them. I have very minor spots on the mounting areas I think I'll hit it with my cheap bed liner bc its out of sight and the fact that the Raptor liner is $28 a can and that's buying by the case .I am still debating if I'll do one more can just as a spray over layer but I really don't know I'll need it.
