I'm sold. This is alot cheaper to do than buying new rims. I see he also painted his grille, what are the steps for that?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Thanks for the good write up. I know there are others but I used your cause you r local!! LOL I know how to paint, not pro, but never knew the index card trick. That makes it easy, if it isn't windy! I have had my truck for 7 mths b4 i decided to do this. I think it looks great. Had a few fisheyes happen, and the passenger rear is kind of messed up. But heading into winter not a big deal. If they need it I can touch them up in the spring.

Thanks, it is old man tan so I gotta do something to make it look better :D

I did paint the drums so I could have left the center caps off, but I like the look. Its the nice thing about it being your truck, you can mod it the way u like and change it if you don't. Then change it back if you don't like that! LOL

I did mine in high 40's, just takes longer to dry, as long as its not below freezing. If you can get them in somewhere warm or in the sun to dry that would be best. DON"T move them until they are dry to the touch. If one of the index cards falls on the paint it will make a mess. Sorry should be common sense, but ahem I made that oops!! LOL

With a paint brush and steady hands I am sure.

With a magnet, aluminum is non-magnetic.

Nice! Thanks for doing this. I also have that "tan" color, but it had everything else I wanted, and was offered at a price I couldn't pass up. But, I've thought of going black myself and wanted to see what it would look like on this color, so thanks. Have you done your grill?

LMAO, sorry I couldn't help it. I absolutely love them painted. For the most part people have been very positive about it too. I was also offered a price I couldn't pass up. Nobody wants the "old man tan" color so it was pretty cheap. Because I have the base model, my grill is already dark, not chrome. I did black out my badges and the front emblem. Black is about the only accent color that works with desert sand.

Yeah, I agree black is best for this color, that's why I'm looking into it also. Great job, I like it. If I decide to do it, I'll post my results here.
