I just bought my second tacoma 2011 trd off road. I totaled my old one. I was planning on painting the trd off-road rims black. Has anyone had any problems from painting their rims? (i.e. chipping/scratches)? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Let me know!

i've had mine painted for about a month or so and surprisingly there's no chipping at all, just take your time and do it right. if you do get knicks or scratches, it's easy to tape off and touch up

No chipping here either after 20,000 miles.

Same here...painted and love it with no issues. Don't clear 'em...just spray them up and then a scratch becomes a 10 minute fix. It's all about the prep work. My mod took about 4 hours and more than three was in prep. The painting is the easy part.

Just be sure to use a good clear on them. Preferably a clear with a flex-additive. This will make them much more resistant to chips.

    Do it!

3 coats of rustoleum primer, 3 coats of rustoleum semi-gloss black enamel.
