Wow 680.00? Nice work but a Colormatched grille is 187.00 shipped. Not downing the stuff and it looks nice but about 400.00 for ????? Please school me as it does look somewhat different than my StealthTaco grille. But mine costs me 380.00 shipped so I am still wondering where the other 300.00 is from?

 

These are extremely time consuming to create and they require special equipment. I've invested about $4,000 in tools and equipment to make these properly. They require 3d printed parts which I designed and produce, myself. That design was not an easy one, either. It could take multiple attempts to get them to even print correctly. It takes about 8 hours to print the parts just for making the grill. The custom lettering / emblems is also time consuming and tedious to print correctly. They don't just come off of the printer ready to be put on a grill, either. Plenty of body work to do on those before I can paint them. Also, plastic welding and the body work required to make the grills look the way they should is very tedious and has a pretty decent margin for error, which could set me back an entire grill just from one small mistake. Obtaining, cutting, powder coating, and mounting the mesh is also time consuming. I 3d print special mounts to hold the mesh on securely, which get bonded to the body of the grill.

The $680 price tag is pretty reasonable considering the time involved to produce one of these and the overhead / design aspects. I would love to get these to a point where I could make more of them with less work involved, and charge less => sell more, but that would require some serious evolution in design and processes.

That grill, and the other existing ones for the 2012-2015 Tacomas are pretty much just bolt-ons. Yes, there are some which require a little bit of work to get them to look right, but creating a true deep-dish satoshi for these trucks is a whole different ball game right now.

Hopefully my idea for the 2016 Tacomas will be more feasible .

 

Are these available in Pyrite Mica with no lettering?

 

Yes, I use an OEM grill as the base for these, which I can order in any OEM color. I can also have custom colors matched to the surround for an additional cost. I can even have the body of the grill professionally line-x coated if you want a more rugged look. Lettering / logo is optional, of course. $80 will be taken off of the price if you do not wish to have lettering / logos.

 

Remember when I said that the custom possibilities are endless?



This is just a rough prototype, but I think it's starting to look pretty cool!

How much do you have?

I'll eventually sell the one in this picture. My truck is super white so it can have that surround. But as far as pricing goes, I'm not sure yet. It'll probably be an auction. Not sure if I'll make many of these unless I come up with a better means to produce them.
