Anyone have any experience with them? I have been trying to work a deal in the slim pickings on the east coast and dealing with absurd mark ups. Dealers that do sell at MSRP putting stupid options like a $230 phone cable. One dealer I found in Tallahassee sells at MSRP, but forces you to buy Window etching, their lousy spray wax, some tracking device, and a bunch of other craps that they say is a $11k value for and extra $3100.

The dealer in Panama City said that since the vehicle was still at the port that they could take off the $220 Led bulb swap and some other silly port option and I am basically buying with only factory options and of course the $599 Toyoguard. It almost seems too good to be true. I keep asking what the catch is.

They were even straight up with me on my trade. They knew they couldn't offer what it was worth and suggest I sell it directly to a BMW dealer.

These guys must be the smallest dealership of all. I guess it is a good sign that no one has anything bad to say about them.

Basically like lojack. I can't remember the name, but you are basically giving the dealership the ability to spy on you. I'm not really interested in a dealer keeping track of my vehicle, but I am even less interested in paying for it.

Toyoguard isn't a bad deal honestly. If you like the truck, I'd say go for it.

I'm not too worried over toyoguard. I know it is a profit maker for the most part, but has some value. If I bought outside of the Southeast, I would have to pay for it, but they would ding me for something else. I don't mind paying for options, but when those options don't show up on KBB, you are really just wasting money. I know there is no box on kbb for the LED conversion or the overpriced phone cords.

I bought my Tacoma at MSRP; however the stupid Southeast Toyota Mafia is going to get you with the stupid add ons like phone cable and Toyoguard as those get added to the MSRP or Sticker Price. I only had to pay for $73 dollar cable pack and Toyoguard as the mafia didn’t add as many to my allocation. Toyota of Tampa Bay quoted me a $25,000 Market Adjustment. Some others varied between $2000 and $5000. Just giving you for reference, if you aren’t going to be happy having to pay MSRP then I suggest either finding a different vehicle or perhaps pausing purchase for a couple months as the bank crises may increase the amount of inventory available.

I purchased at Sunny King Toyota in Anniston and had good dealings with them. They were honest and open during the buying process and didn’t charge me a bunch of extras. The only fee they charged was a ridiculous $559.50 fee for “documentation”. However they worked with me on pickup date and eliminated all the other fees and dealer packages I requested to be removed. I showed up with all the financing done prior to getting there and was done in about an hour with an extended test drive.

Find a way to get to martimsburg wv. No bullshit in and out in less than 30 mins. CMA Toyota of Martinsburg. Jonathon Jaeger is who to ask for.

No market value adjustment no up selling. Got asked once said no they never brought it up again.

Sunny King was one that I was looking at, but they sold it the day before I contacted them. I don't have a problem paying MSRP (well in this environment anyway). I refuse to pay over and that seems to be the case most places. Wesley Chaple seems to be one of the worst. On top of their $5k "adjusted market value" and their $1000 document fee, they had a slew of dealer add ons. I really hate having to go all the way to Panama City but for the $200 flight, I will be paying thousands less.

One thing I don't understand with the ridiculous port options like the cables, is that they are not consistently priced. I have seen them on some trucks as low as $73 and others as much as $300. Seems like they should be the same price everywhere.

What trim and color are you looking for? I noticed that too on the option prices, what I learned is that the $73 package is just phone cables whereas the $300 adds USB ports for the back seat passengers plus the phone cables.

Back and forth between a Tacoma and 4runner. Leaning toward the 4runner which oddly seems to be better priced. Either way it will be a Lunar Rock Off Road 4wd.

Maybe it's just me, but ever since Covid it seems like Toyota dealers have gone into "our shit don't stink" mode and act like they are doing you a favor selling you a vehicle and you should just pay what they ask. This is especially true of SE Toyota Mafia dealers. If I ever buy a Toyota again I will be going outside of their area to do it.

You definitely are not wrong. I talked to Toyota of Sanford and the guy had the balls to tell me that I was bad for calling him a thief with his "adjusted market value". I told him that he needed to be a little more honest and label it "additional dealer profit". His justification was that he had to charge more because people were buying new and selling them for more than they bought them for.

Fixed it for you. They're the ones that caused this in the first place.

weirdly enough some dealers just sell at msrp and dont wanna screw you over. I was super surprised that i got mine for MSRP, and no added on crap that I didnt want or need. They did offer that tracking device and some other things as add ons, but it wasnt mandatory. I asked why they sell msrp in a market where people would still buy them even if they were marked up thousands over msrp, and the salesman said thats just how our manger does it and always has and thats how he wants it to be... go figure. I happily drove out with my 6MT lunar rock trd 4x4 offroad with just the tech package for a little over 41k

From what I have read in the thread ... not the first or the worst.

Here are examples from my area, different dealers:

    > Install lift kits and bigger tires on SRs, no new electronic lock to override auto lock on the differential, cannot refuse it ... extra $7000
    > $5000 extra up through TRD OR, $10000 extra for TRD PRO just for the privilege of buying it
    > A whole flurry of warranties and installed packages for $4000 extra, though once they said "JUST for you, we have one only at MSRP"
    > 2 dealers making deposits for future undelivered trucks NON-refundable (one sales person says not true, another says "trust the form you sign"

Only one says "MSRP, not even window tint unless you want it (it IS Arizona so you know you will add it), no fluff packages

    Guess who I went with.

My buddy picked up a brand new Pro a few days ago in Northern Mass for MSRP. He lives in NH 5 minutes from the local dealer from whom he has bought two previous Tacomas from and they wanted 5 grand over for the same truck. They wouldn't budge on the price.

ETA: That was a straight up market adjustment no add ons

Shipmate, Tuscaloosa Toyota was one of the dealers I contacted. I probably would have talked to them had Panama City not responded first and they are a bit closer. It is nice to know that there are a few dealers out there that are decent. I really wonder who walks into a dealership and thinks they are getting a great deal when they are paying $5k or more over msrp.
