Panic, lost tool in diff! ECGS

What I would do... Get a roll of stretch wrap, and bunch up and direct towards the bottom of the opening. That way it is one mass you can pull out.

Just a thought. Having never seen the inside of a diff, I really underestimated the amount of space for that tool to fall into.

 

Pulling the diff isnt that bad. If youve already got the cvs pulled then its a simple project.

 

To a green mechanic it doesn't look very easy. but, I know from reading the process that it is simple. Just gonna break all of the bolts tonight and unclip add harness, remove diff tomorrow and split open if needed.

 

Ready to drop - waitin on extra hands. This was EASY with electric impact.

 

Having a hard time separating the clamshell - anyone know how? Will post pics up when back from lunch run.

 

Make sure all bolts are loosened up enough, then there are "pry points" that you can use a screw driver or pry bar on.

 

Do I need to remove the add motor and stub shaft joint?

 

Already removed stubb shaft (the tube looking thing that pulls out like a cv). I'll get pics up... Almost back.

 

You can't tip it on it's side and the piece will fall out?

Figured they were the same almost done now. Drivers side almost buttoned up - just need to get that darn cotter pin and axle nut on. Then passenger side.

My wife has been suprisingly cool this time around... It has not been so in the past!!!

 

Btw, you all have been a lot of help, and I appreciate it very much!! Hopefully this helps someone out in the future too. Will report back with vibration report..

 

One more note for now... The ECGs puller tool requires a lot of trimming! They need to re evaluate the mfg of that piece.
