Just a build thread for my new used 2nd gen.
Decided to upgrade from my 1st gen as i needed something with more towing capacity. Didnt want a full size truck and found this one for a good price.

I think the first thing was to give it a quick tune up, oil change, air filter and plugs

yep, plugs were old as dirt lol

 

next up was to install all the towing parts.
I added the aux cooler, wiring for the brake controller, hitch and 7pin trailer connection.
huge transmission cooler with aux fan. fan comes on at 190deg (never came on towing my fj40)


towed this the next weekend and went great.

 

the next weekend I needed to get the tent off the old truck so i can get it ready to sell so i needed a setup to hold my RTT.
3ish sticks later and some flat plate i had made up a nice bed rack.

 

Got these in the other day. these will go in the rear with custom mounts top and bottom. going to pair them with some deaver expo leafs.
12" Fox with dual adjusters.

 

got my hood struts today, this is always a must mod.

 

Great choice,I have been looking on more info/taco/builds that are running the Deaver Expo Leafs. I decided to run an RTT also and after talking with Deaver I'm sold

 

This looks fun! I'm starting to rethink my ride-rite set up...might look into some new rear leafs in the near future...

got my ARB snorkel installed. so fun cutting huge holes in the truck


and installed


also got my seat heaters installed lol, totally needed in San Diego.



while doing that, I raised the rear of the seats 1" with some stainless spacers i made.


also got my relay panel installed, should clean up things a bit under the hood for expansion

 

also got more crap in the mail today.

got some more work done.
picked up some dakar rear springs and some lift spacers for the front while i wait for the Fox coilovers to show up.


new ARB bumper showed up also, got it installed and test fitted before i cut the stock bumper up.


new 255x85R16 tires showed up too



also got some parts for the new rear shock setup

 

got the rear shock setup done.
started making the bolt on frame mounts.


and welding up the lower mounts


and all done but paint

 

wile waiting for more parts to show up, got a new tail gate support.
you know its good when it says this on the box


and test fitted, perfect.


i decided to put the stock cover over it for now too.


and because i love stickers lol

 

and rear shock setup all done and painted


got the bumper cut up to fit around the ARB bumper


got the arb brackets to redrilled for the 1" bodylift. seems like it fits well.

 

got my locking hub conversion installed, new rotors to replace the old crap
old rotors were crazy rusty.



and all installed.

 

got some more work done. welded up the TC spindle gusset.


also did the cab chop mod. so nice not hearing the tire rub anymore lol
