A new battery should easily last 2 weeks without driving even in extreme conditions, you’ve got something going on. What have you added / modified electronically.

I’m doing the same working from home, if I haven’t gone to the store in a week I just crank the truck up and listen to music for 10 minutes or so, good to go then.

You know, you’re right especially with a new battery. With an older weak one it’s questionable but his is new. You’re also right about his meter needs to be on DC amps. And on a 10A full scale range that DMM is gonna be inaccurate on the low end range especially. For the meter he shows in the picture to measure milliamperes accurately he should have his red lead plugged into the V ohm mA Jack and set the meter on 200 mA, but only AFTER first verifying the current has dropped down to below 200mA while measuring on the 10A scale and connected as in his picture.

    Depends on the meter.

I have 4 different meters and 3 of them have ac amp and DC. Only one has just the one setting for amps.

It was my remote starter, the part with the GPS that connects to the phone. It draws 250ma, once I removed that the truck went back to the standard 40ma draw. I guess it needs to be unplugged if I am not driving for a while. I used to drive every day for 3 hours so never had a problem.

glad you got it sorted. You could always put a hidden switch in the power line to that module.

I wonder if there's some input on it that tells it to go to sleep that isn't connected.

It unplugs really easy so I just put it in the cup holder. I think its kind of like a cellphone - it has a sim card and all that, its always on as far as I can tell whenever I open the app it tells me the signal strength and battery voltage.

Its a great device for starting your car up in the winter and summer and unplugging it defeats the purpose. But I guess until I start getting out there on a regular basis unplugged it is.

Is there a model number on it? I'm bored and curious.

I have a parasitic draw as well. Been married to it for 29 years. Any thoughts on how to fix it? :notsure:

250mA is a lot of current, wouldnt expect a remote starter to be so inefficient.

Ya I think that was stupid of me to say. I’ll have to look when I get to work tomorrow but I’m sure my fluke meter has ac amps, we just never use that in automotive

All good. I don't get to see DC much. But used to the fluke AC when doing commissioning and preventative maintenance.
But then again my 3 are clear for AC as putting it on AC goes to the clamp. Definitely don't want to be breaking a 400amp 600V line for testing even suited up20200313_110520.jpg
