Correct. Our module consumes current only when "awoken"...in sleep mode it's almost negligible. That parasitic current draw is WAY too HIGH for any device we sell. The draw on the remote starter by itself is 10 to 12 mA (0.01 to 0.012 Amps). It's activated (awoken) when it receives a command only from the fob/phone. A parasitic draw of .250mA means 21 to 25 times the necessary current required. Our module would be blown and smoking at that rate. The smart module piggy backs off the remote starter and draws it's power that way. Considering he's had it since winter 2018, and this just happened (even if not driving) and a new battery, there is something else going on here...we'll investigate deeper for him Monday based on our PM dialogue but again, our modules wouldn't last a millisecond drawing that much. They're not rated for it...we won't write it off just yet, but it's hard to conclude its the telematic hardware or RS just yet till we check the log files Monday. Interior dome lights being on during current readings also affect perceived values, be careful of this. On a side note, I also noticed in the past that the blind spot assist and parking assist sensors draw current and turning them off when cranking a battery that's teetering on the edge of life n death can sometimes get an engine to crank and turn. Try testing with those buttons on and off with the vehicle completely off as well.

Ok so dug into this more...

Whether locked onto a signal or not (blinking/hunting), the telematic smart module goes to sleep after 2 hours. During sleep mode, it consumers 10mA - 15mA (0.01A - 0.015A). When idling, its consumes around 20mA (0.02A; woken up but not commanded). When commanded, consumption is about 30mA (0.03A). At 0.25A to 0.50A, the module would be burnt out.

Did you figure out if this was the only issue with your battery? Recently I've been having a few battery issues and the only thing that has changed on the truck is the installation of the remote start.

...and can it just be that it's time for a new battery? Our OEM 2018 battery needed replacing after 6 months of ownership without a remote start on it. We dug into it and found numerous threads on this being a known issue due to how Toyota under sized them. Without knowing the dynamics of how often you drive or not drive, your weather and so on, it's not an issue that we would consider being related to. It's always just coincidental, or something else...

On those settings 0.5 would be half an amp, or 500 mA, which sounds high to me.
