So I backed into a pole over the weekend. Now I as I am starting to lookup replacement parts, the part alone are $800.

So has anyone removed these sensors?
Has anyone had anyone issues after removing them?

What have you done with the buttons in the cab?

If I remove them I can buy a steel bumper (Body Armor) and never have issue in the future.

Can't answer your question, but I hope you get your vehicle fixed to your satisfaction. I find it ironic that Toyota brags about the Tacoma bumper being a three part piece so that any damage can be easily repaired at modest cost. Total BS. What they don't say is that most of it is just cheap plastic that's expensive. I was disgusted when I realized my chrome end pieces were just cheap plastic that would do nothing to protect my truck in a minor accident. Back in the 80's I had an Oldsmobile that had 20 mph impact bumpers. I got rear ended by a Honda Accord....which did substantial damage to the Honda...but did zero damage to my car. Now we just have plastic.
