Hoping someone can help me with some part numbers. Back in November, I was at my in-laws for dinner and my passenger side parking brake cable froze on the first sub-freezing night we had (jacket was torn and it’s had water in it for a while). Tried to melt it with a torch but ended up having to cut it to get the family home.

Ordered new cables from Conicelli Toyota the next day but just got around to installing them today, only to realize they’re wrong. Side by side, the new ones are about 18” longer (probably for a long bed, I have a short bed).

I’ve searched through a few websites but can’t seem to get a definitive answer on the correct PN for the rear cables. If I punch in my VIN on “toyotapartsdeal”, it says the above cables fit, which is wrong. Another website shows “Fitting Vehicle Options: GRN245” for the above part numbers, my truck has GRN245l on the door card. Toyota of Dallas shows cables for 140” wheel base 4x4 but the 127” wheel base version states 2wd, at this point I’m not sure what matters other than wheel base? Are auto and manual cables the same? 2wd and 4wd same? I’m lost...

My truck is a ‘15 4.0, manual trans, 4x4, 5’ bed. None of the websites I’ve found spell out my exact configuration and I don’t want to make this mistake again.
46420-04121 and 46430-04091 are incorrect, that’s all I’m sure of... can anyone help?

Anyone with same vehicle could get underneath and verify the part number label. I do know the auto transmission cable is the same for single cab, access cab and double cab, just more to cable underneath to loop in the single cab. Maybe it's the same for the parking brake cable, just a guess.

    Thanks,
I scoured my old cables for tags but couldn’t come up with anything.

I tried making the longer cables work but it just can’t happen cleanly, there are cable clamp locations that need to align with mounting locations on the frame, it creates loops in places there can’t be loops, I.e. over the exhaust.

I’m gonna stop by the dealership later today and see if the parts guys have a better breakout from what I’ve found online, I’m getting to the point where I’m pretty confident that a 127” WB manual trans is all that matters, we’ll see...

Thanks, just stopped by the dealership and that’s the same info they had. These part numbers should fit based on the VIN# and door card info...

Throwing caution to the wind and ordered another set of the same part numbers under the assumption that the first order was bagged incorrectly. Seems unlikely but nothing else makes sense.

In an effort to confuse things even more, the Parts Dept called Toyota to see if they could get more info on cable lengths. Was told Right side 46430-04071 is 48” and Left side 46420-04101 is 47.3”. Went home and measured the old left side cable at 99” ferrule to ferrule, and what’s supposed to be the new left (46420-04101) at 109” ferrule to ferrule.

If these new cables are wrong, I'm going to give up and drive around with a brick in the bed to use as a wheel chock...

You might want to see if you can hit up a junk yard for the part. 2015 isn't so old that the part shouldn't be clean enough (rust free) to use.

I thought about that, but these things rust out so fast I'm afraid I'll be in the same boat in another year using a used cable...

Well, against my better judgement, I ordered another set of cables from my local dealer (same PN’s I already bought that were too long) and what do you know! They’re correct! We’re going with both cables from the original order got mixed up with cables for a long bed and mis-tagged... So back up and running, thanks for the help nailing down the part numbers!
