I have a 2023 SR5 with 800 miles on it. I washed the truck today and then reversed down my driveway and stopped and set the parking break. A few hours later I was going to pull it forward, but it wouldnt budge in drive or reverse. I reengaged the parking brake and released it. That didnt help. Then I pumped the brakes and reengaged the parking brake and released again. Then I was able to move forward. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Something to worry about?
Also, I live in NC and it is 90 degrees out today.

Ultimately its just the nature of drum brakes, they built a tiny build up of corrosion and fused to the drums. We see it a lot in the winter with car washes.

There was a TSB awhile back for older models but this will pretty much always happen in this scenario

Best to drive it after, or simply avoid using the parking brake after wash if possible.

Thanks. I will try to not use the parking brake after wash. I use it every time I put in park so it's a habit

    DIYer here. Not a mechanic.
Water/cleaner gets in and temporarily dries up moving parts. Cylinder or retracting spring get seized up.
Ask a brake guy but I think rear drums can be adjusted. Overtightened drums would have less retraction space.
I should add I have not experienced this phenomenon.
