20171007_104820.jpg So, I left the pup in the car cuz it was cool enough while I went inside. When I came back out, I found she had chewed the s*** out of the brake handle. It looks like it blew up. The damage is only to the plastic, but that part is completely shot. Does anybody know if any aftermarket handles are an option? I don't want to replace the whole thing if I don't have to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....besides the obvious, don't leave the dog in the truck and shooting is out of the question because she's too good of a friend, and it wouldn't fix it.

    Picture?

I dunno what a 3gen handle looks like or where it is located.

Redline Goods are pricey, but awesome. They started out making Miata bits back when I was rolling in those.

Not sure I'd install one of those for a doggy chew though. ;)

You were lucky, mine ate the shifter knob and the corners of the center glovebox lid on my Gen 1.

That dog continued to be a great family friend for many years after that!

If you don't want her to chew on your truck while you are out, perhaps give her an alternative - a new chew toy for just special time in the truck and cover the center controls with a clipped towel?

Find a wrecked 3rd gen, install it's parking brake... then remove your chewed parking brake & give it to the pup as a chew toy.

Actually left her with a new rawhide chew, her previous-to-this-event favorite.

oh the joys of puppy times haha.

Best of luck with finding an alternative. At least she's a cutie

I love how she has that look on her face like 'ya bitch next time don't leave me all alone here'

Get a cap and keep the mutt in the back....OR give her/him to a friend that you don't like.... hehehe...

Just kidding....I would not replace that damage with an expensive upgrade without solving the problem first..!!
    Good luck with that..

I'd suggest that you do not pound your dog.... you could get in trouble if someone sees you doing that.... It might be best if you just take it to the shelter and say BYE..

    Violence is not the way..!!

Until the Pup is past the chewing stage you might want to put him into a pet carrier while he is alone in the Truck.

How about wrapping it in paracord or something similar. Like the end of a knife or fishing pole.
