I traded a 2002 F-150 SCREW for my Tacoma in 2007. I considered the 6' bed, but it was the same overall length as my old Ford. A big part of the reason for trading was to get into something more compact. Not just for parking at the mall, but to be more agile off road. The 5' bed was right for me 10 years ago. Going to a long bed would have defeated the purpose for trading.

I still have the Taco, but in the last 10 years some things in my life have changed and I now have a need for a bigger truck and also drive a 2014 F-150 SCREW. We use the Ford on longer trips and the Taco for around town or off roading. After driving the Taco for 10 years it has been a learning experience all over again. Not only is it longer, but wider too.

The point being those trucks vastly outnumber the DCLB Tacoma and those folks do just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions from folks who shared'em. For all else, I may be over thinking it...but you may be too. I didn't get the truck to drive it downtown and am not in a panic over parking, just trying to pick some more experienced brains about the occasion I do find myself with it in tight parking.

Overall gist I get is don't stress it which is good to hear. Coming from a much shorter hatchback and my girlfriend's even smaller hatchback, seeing my vehicle poke out of both ends of a spot is new to me. Trucks I drove before this never had to venture into urban areas.

You ever seen a F-350 in a long bed? I see them parking no problem. But on another note. Give it a little bit and you will get used to it. How long have you had it?

Just a couple of weeks and a handful of tight spots, so I think you're right it'll become more normal for me

When I work in the city I always park in multi level garages or lots either way my jetta just fits in the spots.
I see a bunch of trucks parked though (full size) with no issues. even though the hang out.

I wouldn't be too worried if I was you.
Just park far as much as possible (which really you should be doing anyways lol)

lol you're worried about parking in normal parking spots.
I'm concerned with parking at my girlfriends where its a back laneway and its a tight one. and her parking spot is only 18 ft long (i've got DCSB) still going to be tight, hell the turn into the lane is tight as fuck as it is.

And if I wasn't to park there I'd have to be parallel parking where most people on her street drive cars so there aren't usually spots for trucks as its just spots from cars that have left.

    I hear ya OP.

I came from a 1997 standard cab 4x4 for 19 years to a wider, access cab that's 2 ft. longer. Not as big as yours but still bigger than what I'm used to.

And I'm still getting used to the larger size 9 months later, especially at Walmart and the like.

I usually park a few extra spots from the front door now.

Most driving is easy to adjust to except the parking lots and curbs....It'll come to you.
