Parking lights work with my brakes

Ya crap, well, I guess I’ll start with the marker lights first since that’s what I noticed first. No other reason. Maybe I’ll get lucky and find something. Ugh

 

Here's the diagrams for a 2000 model, should be the same.

 

Perfect, you had those ready to go! Splice B7 and B8, ground IG and IE, and connector BN1 should all be examined and checked. Ground point EA maybe as well but I'd try that last (I think it's on the engine bay wall behind the fuse box or charcoal canister).

I'm with the others I bet you have a bad ground at one or both of your Brake/Tail light(s), only other explanation is a Brake light wire shorted to a Tail light wire somewhere.

 

I’ll start with checking all the bulb grounds tomorrow. I need to try and fix it soon now because I can’t drive at night since my brake lights don’t work if my headlights are on.

Can someone who can read diagrams better than me tell me if there is a place where the front running lights and the tail lights and the brake lights might be next to each other?

Where did you get this diagram? I’d like to have electrical diagrams for my 96 and 2001

Those schematics come out of Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagrams it can be found alone or comes with the Complete Factory Service Manual .

To me a must have for working on my vehicles.

 

Oh, I can’t remember how I downloaded my pdf FSM but it doesn’t have the electrical diagrams.

I guess I was lucky enough to have made it this far without needing one.

Again make 100% sure the correct size bulb, the correct style bulb, is in each and every socket. Goofy as this sounds ... Remove all bulbs , re-install one at time and observe ??

 

Pretty confident that I have the right bulbs in, but I’ll double check

 

If you pull your 10A Tail light fuse, do the tail lights still come on?

Had the same issue . checked all the things mentioned , disconnecting a keyless entry system and trailer harness with no luck. Stop light bulb ende up being the cause. The 2 filaments had fused together causing my dash and parking lights to turn on when pressing the brake
