I would say try the dealership and hope they over charge it once they agree on a higher amount find someone that knows how to properly fix it i mean it dont seem too bad at all maybe get away with a few hundred on top for the principal

I just called the insurance and got a list of approved repair centers. Gonna get a real quote and probably just have them fix it and see if they'll give the paint some love for extra cash on top. Anyone have any experience with service king, Gerber, or caliber collision?

That is a nation wide thing my friend. Supposed to prevent price gouging and conflicts of interest.

Go to one of the approved, then go to one that is not, take the highest estimate and negotiate down from there, by law you may use ANY body or repair shop of YOUR choice.

The benefits of a preferred shop is there is usually an imbedded agent there that can deal with it very quickly, and they have a deal with the dealerships to get first dibs on parts.

Rock sliders need to be on a soon list...keeps all but the high cut rear doors on some suvs from making impact.

Good repairs are still visible to trained eyes. I knocked off 6 k from the dealer price because I found it .

Are free quotes a thing? Like just stroll into any shop and ask for a quote?

Some do, I can’t say how AZ works those now, when I lived there free estimates were the rage. I know here in TX I got a free estimate when some ass hat broke out my window and fuggerd my door, door panel,mirror....2600 in damage...

Used an approved shop just cause I needed it fixed fast.

    OP,

There is one other thing you can do, more for you than anything, you could go get retail prices on parts that need to be replaced and even the ones that are damaged, this way you can see who is charging more for what and you could use this as a negotiable point.

And no, you do not always need to use brand new parts, but, that is something that you MUST talk with you insurance company about, some stuff can be used, other stuff can not.
Insurance companies do this a lot, especially on high end and rare vehicles.

“I was originally planning on putting the cash towards principal, just because the trail pinstripes I have currently stick out more than the tiny bump.”

You can’t do that, it’s not your truck if there’s a loan on the truck. The truck is owned by the bank and it must be repaired back to the stock factory condition unless THEY approve otherwise. Accepting a monetary insurance claim and not repairing the vehicle is insurance fraud, seriously DONT DO THIS!

In addition to this, your own insurance company also stipulates that the vehicle be free from damages and defects, having full coverage (which you do because there’s a loan) requires you to disclose and reductions in value on the covered vehicles. The insurance companies and loan servicing company will eat you alive if you pocket that claim money and likely file charges against you. They will get a notification of the claim because it shows up on the vehicles history, they routinely check this and most large companies get automatic notifications now.

Moyock? Just drove through Moyock returning back from dropping of my taco to get the underside sprayed. Train tracks were flashing red and no train in sight. Took Tulls Creek and passed 2 cars from the court house to Jarvisburg. Never been so lucky.
    Sorry to derail.

What seems “far fetched” about this? Have you ever read your loan documents? Why does the bank require full coverage insurance? Because it’s their vehicle and they don’t want it damaged or destroyed by the borrower, that’s why the bank is named also named in the policy documents. If you don’t pay the insurance they come reposes the truck, they get notified by the insurance company.

Go read your insurance policy information, it’s in plain English and not a difficult concept to grasp. For some reason people don’t comprehend that the vehicle isn’t theirs to do with what they wish when they have only paid $1000 on the principal of a $37k truck. You can’t diminish the value and the bank has the final say in everything that happens with the truck until the loan is paid off completely, they are listed as the primary and you’re secondary.

It is a black truck though . Unless there is damage to the adjacent door panel there will be no blend. Look real hard there may be a scratch now . If there is it could take care of the pinstripes . Maybe come out of pocket on those dings to the bodyshop to make it new again since it's being refinished anyway. Now that I've said all this are you sure the adjacent panel doesn't have a scratch:boink:.

Insurance fraud is a crime, it effects everyone with higher premiums and encouragement of insurance fraud can be considered criminal conspiracy. I wouldn’t do that if I were you, don’t be a thief or encourage others to steal...

Thieves are the lowest scum of society and you wouldn’t appreciate someone fraudulently making and insurance claim against you, would you?

I always assumed full coverage was required so if the vehicle was totaled, they would get what they invested. I didn't know they wanted full coverage in case of scratches and stained carpets. Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

I think both doors have blemishes. Not even being facetious.
