Cops can't uphold the law on private property? Are you stoned? You need to nut up and get the cops involved. You should have involved them right away. That police report is the ONLY thing that is going to keep money from leaving your pocket in massive quantities.

You don't need to be CSI to match up paint samples, but the cops CAN take paint samples and send them to a lab if need be. The cops CAN pressure they guy into admitting what he did. Unless that happens, YOU pay for everything.

Its a free world brother, you can bend over and take it like a champ or you can stick it to someone who is obviously a lying sack of shit. Your choice.

Exactly, as said by others, private property or not you are entitled to compensation. You think a mall parking lot is public property? 99% chance it's private and owned by Simon Corp. A supermarket parking lot is also privately owned... would you just take it if this happened at a supermarket? Call the police and file a report immediately. It doesn't matter if your car is parked inside someones living room, get it? Whoever told you that needs to be punched almost as hard as the chumbucket that hit your truck.

Call your insurance company. They will handle the investigation and who gets to pay.

And the first question out of the insurance reps mouth...

Did you file a police report?

So OP, did you file a report?

Or are you going to pay for it yourself, or worse go through insurance and pay your deductible which will let your insurance rates go up.

    Agreed!

Taking good pics of his truck would make one heck of a good case in small claims court to recover your deductible at the very least.

Delayed reports happen all the time. Even if the cops refuse to pursue anything with the other guy due to lapse of time since it occurred (I doubt they will if the evidence is still there), file the report anyway. And make sure they know you have seen a vehicle that was parked in the same parking lot with paint transfer that matches your truck on it, so the info is included in the report that your insurance company will get.

OP started thread complaining about this accident, then didn't seem to care enough to handle it properly. My bet is he felt sorry for making the thread and took the hit and runner out to lunch and apologized for his truck being in the way of the other guys vehicle.

In Florida its still a hit and run even if it takes place on private property. Its still a criminal offense. The damage and paint transfer would be enough to charge him. Whejn faced with the criminal charge the asshole usually admits to the crash to avoid prosecution.

See if NV has a similar system so he will be charged. If not, wait until 6 months from now then dump a bucket of aricraft paint remover over his piece of shit he drives. :drevil:

Here in Texas, if you can drive the vehicle and no one is injured, the cops won't even show up.

My Dad has worked for a major insurance company since long before I was born. He has always said to call the police for any vehicular accident. I believe him.

Or it could be that the person who allegedly messed up his truck is far higher ranking at the company and going after them would make HIS life miserable at work. Don't get me wrong I would be beyond pissed if this was my truck but we don't know the OP's work situation. Generally as people mature they learn to pick their battles. I suspect the OP needs a job to pay for said truck and if making this an issue at work could lead to unemployment what would you choose?

Even if the guy admitted fault at the scene you always call the cops to file an accident report and read that bitch over before you let them leave. People are unbelievable these days and ones word is no longer what it was. Letting someone get away with that is like pissing money away. Use your tax dollars and get the cops involved. If your work takes any action on you because you called the cops then you handle that as well. Dont let people like that feel they can get away with it or that your work can punish you for it; it may be more work for you but you are helping the order in society and standing up for yourself. I truly hope its not too late.

It is a hit and run, if for some reason in some weird Nevada law that is not covered, then it is still DESTRUCTION OF PRIVATE PROPERTY. Call the pork.
(In Va, police can't give tickets on private proerty either, but they will give you a report. Which you can take to court. I hit a pedestrain once going pretty fast in reverse, cop said 'lucky you were on private property or I'd have your license revoked" yeah, I was 18 and stupid)

A police report and then a civil lawsuit.. harrassment and intimidation by a shitty employer is illegal and I wouldn't work for a company that was that shady anyway.

Truck can be replaced if you can't find a decent employer. Life spent on your knees is a complete waste.
