Just picked up a used 2022 TRD off road where the previous owner had installed the OEM TRD lift kit (part number PT84K-35221). At the top of the front grille (included in the kit) there appears to be a sensor of some kind, but it looks like it's in a mount intended for a front camera. It's definitely connected/wired into the truck.. just not sure if if it's a sensor because there's already a separate millimeter wave sensor for TSS below.

    Is this a parking sensor?

Any chance I can replace this with a front camera?

Interesting. I'd unplug it and see what light comes up on the dash.

Yea. Or put a piece of tape over it and see what doesn't work.

Actually, on mine it is the front camera, but in your photo, I can't tell if it's the lighting or not, doesn't actually look like a camera.

It’s a forward facing camera for parking. You should have a view switch to the left of the steering wheel.

Edit: I took a second look and now I’m uncertain cause it doesn’t look like a camera lens.

The center circular 'front' that would be a camera lens is completely opaque.

Instead of a lens it's solid black.

Is it some kind of placeholder? Can you remove it and see if it's just a piece of plastic?

On that year model, it did not come standard with a front camera. That should be the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) sensor.

Hmm.. yeah. that could be the situation ... (plastic placeholder to hang on the harness)

    ..EDIT...

Yep.. was a plastic placeholder. I pulled the harness out of the back of the mystery item and there is nothing on the receiving end but plastic. It's just holding onto the harness.

Im likely being redundant but....that is NOT a parking sensor, its for the factory camera (looks like you may have the wiring but not the camera...hmmmm, not all TRD OR have the tech package, you can probably add a camera in that exact spot. I have a camera in that spot (OR with factory trd lift and grill), but the camera package was there in previous grill prior to the grill change. Good luck....Check the threads and enjoy!

With the harness unplugged, what's the plastic thing look like from behind? Any actual contacts for the harness?

Mystery solved.. Unplugged the harness and there are no contacts on the receiving end. (which is what a few of you said )

It's a placeholder as a few of you mentioned.

Looks like my next step is to find a camera to slide in there and do some research to figure out what internal plug/wires inside the cab end up with the signal from whatever camera will slide in there.

    This and that
Trd lift/ heritage grill comes with dummy camera. I think it actually comes with another mil/wav sensor. Then the dealer says, welp, that’s new so we have to calibrate it, :spending:

Purchased the kit last week and can confirm exactly what Willy's saying. I think you would still have to run wires through to the back of the head unit too, would not be as easy as slapping a camera in there and it all works unfortunately.
