Anyone know how to get the tip off the stock exhaust?

I want to paint it with high temp paint but I don't want it on the truck during the painting so that there's no risk of any overspray. I took the clamp off of it but it still doesn't wanna come off. My first thought was that it's rusted in place but it'll twist enough that I know that's not the case but I still can't get it to slide off the end of the tailpipe.

    Any suggestions?

Theres a half circle metal band on it I believe. Loosen the clamp, slide it farther up or twist to get the spacer band off, and then it will remove. The tip on the stock(about 3-4") is larger than the rest so there is a spacer band there where the polished tip clamps

This is by memory, last time I took a stock tip off was 2007, but this is how I recall it at least. Hope it helps

I'll give it a try... maybe that's what's rusted in place

after loosening up that clamp again ang getting it to spin completely around I'm not sure it does come off (at least on mine). The end of the tailpipe itself is actually flared out a little and the end seems to be extra flared to mate with the end of the tip that wraps around.... guess maybe I'll get bold eventually and paint it on the truck.
