Has anyone seen a partial shell to allow for dogs to ride in the bed of the truck under California Law?

I understand it's something like a $500 fine if a dog is unsecured in the back of a truck in California. Camper shell is ok.

Unsecured as in "not tethered/leashed to the vehicle" or unsecured as in "not inside the vehicle?"

    I haven’t seen a partial shell since the 1980s.

I didn't even know there was a law about this... But seems any shell (hard or soft) would suffice but you could also just use a crate/kennel so long as it's strapped down OR you can even have no container so long as the dog is "cross tethered" (which essentially means tied down with two separate points so the dog can't jump out of the bed like they could if they were only a single tie down point).

"Back in the Day" it was fun as a kid to ride in the back of an open air truck! It just isn't any "fun" anymore!

In that case, why not just put a D-ring on the center of the front bedrail and tether the dog with something short enough that they can't jump out?

I spotted a real nice and simple soft shell igloo type cover the other day that I'll post up later.

"Bushwhacker" kennel I spotted locally for truck bed. Would fit a larger dog, caught my attention. Haven't searched for it yet, will check out Amazonthumbnail-43.jpgthumbnail-50.jpg
