After 4 years of happy driving, I just parted ways with my 2018 Taco TRD Pro. A bitter sweet moment, but as everything in life, something ends and something else begins. I traded it for a 2022 4Runner TRD off-road premium in Lunar Rock, ordered it as I wanted it, got a great deal on the trade in, so I'm starting this new adventure still within the Toyota family. As my kids become older, they are also getting bigger, making the Taco a bit of an inconvenience, so the 4R solves for a more comfortable ride. As I reflect back, here are a few of the things I love about the Taco, and eve though almost perfect, I'm adding a couple of things I would change.

Likes: the looks, the nimble, light drive (even with some gear chasing), how it off-roads, how it caries all the stuff we need for camping, how customizable it is, how reliable it is, how easy to work on it is...how we ALL love and cherish them so much...need i say more?

Opportunities: the gearbox, the head lights (fixed in later years), the gas tank size, the fact that it's almost impossible to make the bed water tight.

I'll leave you with a couple of pics of its good life!.

Thank you to Tacoma World and all the help and advise. I'll stay connected and will check once in a while, who knows, maybe there is another Taco in my future!

The 4runner is a great vehicle, I think you’ll like it more than the Tacoma in time.

Given a coin-toss on either I'd be happy as a clam for the Tacoma or the 4-Runner... both very capable vehicles - both very respectable -

    A bunch..and no build thread!
You will love the T4R, we have aa 2022 TRD Sport T4R and love it. It is great for when we have to bring the girls somewhere (they're in their early 20's) or take the dogs to the park. It also makes a great support vehicle when we go camping or on off road trips.

Lot of parallels between the two, but definitely not a wrong choice :) Enjoy.

My neighbor just traded in his '12 F-150 and cross-shopped a 4-runner and a DCSB Taco. 4-runner was cheaper so that's what he landed with. He kinda regrets it already but just coming from a truck, I'm sure he'll be happy in the long run.

I hope you're happy with your decision!

4Runners are great, especially if you have kids or even multiple pets. Enjoy!

Tough trade to make, but good call sticking with Toyota. I keep ogling other brands, and just can't (won't) make the leap.

How did you get a factory tonneau on your Pro?!?

Enjoy the 4Runner, it's a nice vehicle too...my wife and I are now empty nesters (all 3 kids in college) and she wanted a more fun vehicle (she doesn't work)...we bought her a new 4Runner and she took delivery on 2/28...I've only been in it a couple of times and she's only driven it a little over 1K miles but so far she LOVES it!!! Good luck, enjoy and be safe!

I'm sure you will be happy with it. I have the 17 Tacoma Pro, and the Mrs. has a 2022 4 Runner Pro. Real nice to have both options and no complaints for either one.
