Did Toyota ever publish a paper parts manual for the Tacomas? Yeah, I can look up part #'s using the online e-commerce sites, but it would be nice to have all of those exploded parts diagrams along with the p/n's in one place.

Thanks. Actually, I have seen that before and yes, it is helpful. I have used that before. Attached is an example of what I was thinking of, though.

Maybe back in the days before computers became main stream.

One Book 4" more per each vehicle does take up lots of space I do recall when parts were on Microfilm

A paper copy may exist, but as the Tacoma was only sold in North America, parts catalogs were supplied in formats dealers were commonly using here at the time. Unfortunately that would be microfiche and/or EPC (electronic parts catalog).

I had copies of the microfiche up until they were stolen in July, but they were identical to what’s in the Toyota EPC. Note that most dealers in North America use Snap-On EPC, which did edits to the scans, mostly smoothing and “easier to read” text, but they’re otherwise pretty much the same. The main exception you’ll find in other catalogs like Snap-on and Microcat is that they try to simplify it more than Toyota does in the original catalogs. With microfiche or the Toyota EPC, you select the catalog only, not the model year, so you can see information for all years/variants on a single page. Difficult for new users, but powerful for those who know what they’re doing.

Toyota doesn’t often go back and make changes to catalogs once the vehicle is out of production, instead providing updated parts information through supply-chain details, so the EPC is usually the best source of information, at least for vehicles made from 1990-on.

I do keep older versions of the EPC around for certain reasons, but they likely wouldn’t apply to someone such as yourself, I don’t think.

tl;dr: Not really, no. You can find the microfiche I’m sure, but EPC content is the same.

Side note: there are a few pages in the latest Toyota catalogs that require a VIN to filter before showing any part numbers, notably wiring harnesses. This upsets me.

These are from Mitchell, and while they can be helpful to identify the part you’re looking for, specifically for body repairs, I would be hesitant to use any of the part numbers without verification first.
