A word to the wise is sufficient. The total cost to me is more that I can buy direct from my local Toyota dealer. I would advise everybody on this forum either to be very careful when dealing with this company or even better, don't deal with them at all.

Here is a quote I received from "toyotapartsdeal.com":

    20200529 toyotapartsdeal.jpg
So I called them and asked why their shipping cost was so high. Some woman told me, "That's the way it is." Then I emailed them asking the same thing, and here is their reply:

    toyotapartsdeal reply.jpg

I might add that nowhere in their email was "toyotapartsdeal.com"

Recently purchased an FZJ80 and in doing preventative maintenance, I have bought most of my OEM parts from partsouq.com Ships from UAE but their shipping is quick and prices unbeatable.

It seems most Toyota dealerships have their own parts website nowadays with about a 20% discount from retail and local pickup for free (they ship internal for free if they don't have it in stock). Learn the name of your parts counter supervisor and you'll get a lot better deals.

I've used Page Toyota; oemgenuineparts.com or McGeorge Toyota; toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com. cheaper than Toyotapartsdeal no sales tax, for me anyway and reasonable shipping costs. A rack & pinion and some other misc parts cost 68.00 to AZ from MI, cheaper than getting it locally.

Really doesn't seem that unreasonable to me... Call up UPS or FedEx Freight. Get a quote for a pallet with those dimensions and that weight.

Freight shipping is always expensive, buy from your local Toyota dealer if you can.

I can't vouch for Rock Auto, I hae never ordered anything from them, but Rock Auto says it's not freight has:
    CARDONE (fits 95-96) 261697 for $170
    AAE (fits 95-04) 273N $381

There were 2 more options but they had a core charge.

Shipping to my zip (92586 as an example 92586):
FedEx By Monday, June 8 $33.99
FedEx Ground By Wednesday, June 10 $13.99

Seriously go down to your local dealer and sit down with the parts manager and let him you only use oem parts and you will by all your parts from him. A good parts manager will set up a good deal. Exactly what I did more than 10 years ago and have never paid more than cost plus 5. Maybe he starts at cost plus 15 and once you prove you always coming in to get parts the deal will sweeten up. Everyone at the dealer I use knows me by name.

ToyotaPartsDeal is a conglomerate website that sources participating dealerships all over the country for the parts you're looking for, which is why they sometimes have the best deals on stuff (shipping is another story). I've ordered from them in the past with no issues, but from what I hear their customer service is practically non-existent. And because parts ship from all over the place, if your order gets messed up or you want to return it for whatever reason it's a huge hassle.

They are 'legit', it's just that the nature of the sort of company they are makes them a PITA if something doesn't go smoothly.

I've ordered probably $3000-5000 in parts from them in the last decade. Always shipped from California to Arizona except once or twice from Texas. One of those orders from Texas included valve shims and one was incorrect, but they sent a replacement right away, but I was still a little annoyed paying $8 per shim. You'd think someone would double check. Another time the CV boot kit I ordered had a bag of grease that was leaking and they sent a replacement right away.

Many of my orders included small nuts and bolts for specific locations. I verified my part numbers from the Toyota parts catalog. And I never had a problem with any mistakes for all these little nuts, bolts and studs.

So, overall I've been very pleased with their service.

If the shipping cost was huge on something I would try to buy from a local dealer. I wouldn't crucify them for quoting a big shipping cost. Just don't order from them.

I don't know about you, but I'm not made of money. I suppose there are some folks who will pay that much.

$218.34 is an absolute rip-off quote to ship a steering rack. I received mine four days after I ordered it from a Toyota dealer on the east coast and I paid $85 to ship to Colorado (also a bit high but still in the ball park).
