Just a heads up guys, if you are thinking you would ever need one of these in the future, go ahead and get on the list. That way you're not tapping your foot, waiting on it to arrive when you finally do decide you need one. I've had mine for a good while, just sitting on the bench in the garage, and I'm just now getting around to putting in my light bar and bed lights. It's nice since I already have everything I need to do a proper install waiting for me.

Finally got the left wall done, started finding mold growing on everything.., got my AC connected after a couple set backs and started drying the place out with it.. Ugh this house is just a headache after another headache. On to the front wall and making progress again.

On a freeze right now while I work on my garage. I'm finishing up a workbench with tons of storage to help clear up floorspace.

NOTE: Discussion below is NOT per the currently recommended wiring method, as I am exploring off-label usage here. Please DO NOT use theseSee Post 1303, etc for RECOMMENDED wiring (1303 (tacomaworld.com)

This is a technical question, that I have not seen discussed (but I may have missed it).

Looks like you are using the 15303-2 version of the Bussmann, which has 2 busses on it. Has anybody used it in a switched ground application for the control circuit, rather than switched power.

It LOOKS like the relay side bus in the Bussmann is attached to pin 86 of the relays. The typical micro 280 relays appear to be fully bidirectional on the control circuit (+ to 85 or + to 86, either works fine) with resistor snubbers vs diode snubbers (which would make the relay control circuit directional.

Therefore, I think this relay box could be used with grounding control switches rather than +12V... Any agree or disagree?

I think you could do it that way, provided you use relays with a resistor vs a diode(directional). I'd assume that it just isn't conventional as it's not done widespread. I have had some people question the safety of the switch side power wires passing through the firewall. I don't feel like it is a problem as ground or power wires will carry the same current. If a power wire were to short out, it is much closer in circuit to the fuse(if wired conventionally on the pos side of the circuit) which would break cutting power. If a ground wire were to ground("short") out I think you would be left with issues of your accessories still being powered even when a switch was off, "Phantom or rogue grounds".

    Thanks
I am not thinking about the failure modes, just convenience (for my particular situation)....
Thinking of using one for an airboat rewire I am working on...
