Pass. Window wont work after rain...

Ok, so now it is raining and my passenger side window wont work, it has been exposed to rain for about 2 hrs. uhhhmmm... whattheheckdoIdo?

 

Check the switch connections? Fuses?

 

oooh , at this time of night? im hoping it is not a bad motor, wanted to know quickly in order to order a new motor maybe :/

Any other ideas? Im thinking that the fuse wouldn't be on just the passenger...

Go put something over it for the night until you can diagnose tomorrow. Garbage bag and tape will do. Or self rivet screws

 

Open the door , drape some plastic over the window , close the door

 

Self rivet screws? ha, how bout just a trash bag... Im trying to look on rock auto, not sure what it would even be categorized under any help would be appreciated,...

Take the door panel off and see if you are getting power to the window motor.

 

You shouldn't replace anything before diagnosing the problem. Check the fuse. Remove the trim panel and test the wire connections. A multimeter is great, but even a test light works for most of it. Verify that power is getting from the battery to the switch, and then to the motor. The motor is the very last thing to test. Using 12v leads, straight from the battery, see if bypassing the entire wiring harness makes the motor work.

THEN, buy parts and install.

If you do this backward, and begin by installing new parts, you can spend lots of money and still not have a working power window.

Get a whole new truck now. It's a lemon. We'll figure it out here.
