I barely mentioned dash, and the service writer interrupted and said they'd take care of it. They had it fixed by the time the oil change was done. Hasn't squeaked or rattled in over 8 months.

Curious if your rattle was the passenger side speaker rattle or the center dash area like I'm hearing now? I fixed my speaker rattle.

They told me it was the passenger A-Pillar, and that it was a well known issue with the 16's.

Do you know what they did to fix it?
For now I have a small piece of cardboard stuck in the crack near the pillar.

Felt tape along the speaker cover or along the pillar cover will do it. Right where the two pieces are rubbing.

@2017SilverTRD i believe is correct. Normally I give he dealer first chance to fix an issue, and if they can't fix it, or can't find it, I just fix it myself.

Dash squeak they fixed perfect first time.

So I think I've isolated my newest rattle to the small hole in the passenger dash speaker. I think it's where the auto headlight sensor goes. I don't have the tech package so it looks like I just have a cap there instead of a sensor. I'm hoping somebody can suggest how to remove this? Is it just a cap/plug? Will it just pop out? Or do I need to remove the speaker cover first? Anybody know? I've already felt taped the A-pillar to death and I can reproduce the rattle by wiggling the cap. Thanks!

    I can afford Gas.
I thought this was just me. I couldn't replicate it last time I was in the dealer, its making noise again so I have to take it in.

OK, I just secured that clip. I had to remove the speaker cover to remove the clip. It clips in from the bottom of the cover. Remember, if you do this, to remove the A-pillar cover first. Less chance of breaking clips on the speaker cover. My cover came out clean. Once I had the cover off, I simply taped the plug to the underside of the speaker cover. Super easy to do. Now it doesn't wiggle or rattle any longer. Since I was under the A-pillar cover, I taped down a couple of loose wires, also. Just in case. I haven't driven yet, but I am hoping this will solve my rattle. I will report back.

You can test it by wiggling on that plug that goes in the light sensor hole. Before you begin removing panels.

Has anybody chased a rattle behind or below the radio/center dash area? Could wires be rattling around back there? That's the only rattle that I'm hearing (mostly over bumps) that I can't seem to find info on. I've silenced the speaker rattle. I'm hoping for advice or experience before digging into the center dash. Thanks.

Any luck on finding the rattle behind or below the radio / center dash area? I think I have the same rattle. Already fixed the A pillar, passenger side dash speaker with felt tape.

I have this only when it's cold out. Never said anything on here because I just assumed I broke something. The video above shows someone putting their finger on the speaker and stopping the noise. Not convinced mine is coming from there though. It's hard to tell.

I've had mine torn apart by Toyota 3 times now. They broke the speaker cover at one point, replaced that, and I still have a rattle. They've insulated the A-pillar, as they stated that region made noise with the speaker cover out. I work nights so when it gets cold over the night my truck rattles, only in that area, all the way home. I'm about ready to rip the entire dash out!

The taco I had squeaked in the cold in the same area. The fix was to push in and forward on the a pillar, it just snapped back into place, no more squeak.

I have taken the a pillar apart, put felt tape on it, and the dash speaker cover with felt tape, but I still hear the rattle. It's driving me crazy!

I took the speaker cover and A-pillar cover off and drove around tonight. Noise is still there. Sounds like slow creaking when flexing the truck into steep driveways or over larger speed bumps. May try to tighten the dash, etc.

Oh boy. Sorry to hear that. Well, I isolated the rattle to the ducting that runs from the speaker area all the way to and through the back of the dash near the firewall. Some intentionally placed foam and felt tape at potential contact points helped. I gave the dealer a chance too and they found the same thing. They also said the yellow airbag harness behind the padded trim piece above the glove box needed foam around it. I’m not sure the dash wasn’t rattling at the contact points in the firewall. Honestly, I was so tired of chasing these rattles it made my decision to trade for a 4Runner easier. Good luck. If you need some guidance on getting behind dash panels I can probably help. Hit me up.

I had an 03 that would do the same thing sometimes when it was cold outside. I never did find the cause or even really look for it to be honest.

Second on this. I’ve noticed an occasional rattle, usually on forest roads. Put my finger on the plastic cover for the rear view mirror and it went away. I’ve replicated this multiple times but haven’t gotten around to a permanent fix.
