Just had the dealer fix mine. They added more foam to the panel and the tweeter cover.

Fixed mine, I think, added felt tape to the windshield [passenger side] pillar panel. Added the tap in between the panel and dash - where they meet (or should I say rub).

Our 16 did this. I pounded pretty hard on the A piller and it went away. Our 18 has never done this. Overall thought, I am starting to think the 16 was a better truck than the 18 we have.

when i put the Subaru tweeters in i added a little sound deadening foam to stop the rattle. then two weeks later a lady totalled my truck. my 18 has no rattle...good luck .. my dealer refused my issue 3 times on my 16 fyi

It took my 2003 12 years for the passenger side dash area to start creaking and rubbing. Took my 2017 less than 6 months.

I believe this is where my rattle is coming from, any ideas how to fix? I was thinking maybe clear silicone?

If yours is just the plug and not the real sensor, you can access it easily with the speaker cover removed. You have to pop the A-pillar to do it, but once the cover is off, flip it over and a couple of very small strips of gorilla tape (or any tape really) will secure that plug tightly to the cover. You’ll see when you get under there. Silicone may work too but might be visible if that’s a problem. I just used small strips of tape from underneath.

No, I have the sensor not just the plug, but the sensor seems to have some play and wiggle a little.

    This is what I had.

I pulled the cover off. Adjusted the cord going to the light sensor as I thought the might be the cause and then reinstalled. It's gone now .

I can't confirm which it was as I did both the harness and put it back together in a way it felt tighter.

It just started getting colder, and got the same rattle everyone is talking about. With the defrost blowing heat for a few minutes, the noise settled down. I was convinced it was coming from the overhead console (no sun roof), and that the glue they used up there was getting softened by the heat, making the noise stop.

I pulled the console down, drove with it out, it still rattled, so knew it wasn't the console itself. Next, the plastic head liner ring wasn't glued securely, also noticed the wires up there looked suspect. I foam taped, wrapped, added padding between everything that touched. Secured everything, total overkill.... and it still made the noise. I even removed the rear view mirror to eliminate it as the cause.

I finally got someone else driving, while I'm in the passenger side. No question, the noise was coming from the passenger speaker side. I did the sensor button as mentioned, but that wasn't it. Pulled the A pillar off, and speaker out. I applied foam and felt tape to anything that rubbed or touched. Put it back, and sure enough that was it! 100% rattle free now.

Moral of the story.. even if you're sure it's the overhead console, look at the passenger side!

For anyone searching in the future, if it is the console, refer to this: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/roof-liner-rattle-driving-me-crazy.415868/

Are you referring to the A-Pillar or the tweeter speaker grill cover?
