Is there any differences if I buy a 2020 passenger handle instead of buying a previous model driver handle?

That I cannot answer so honestly, I would purchase the one for your year and color. If you looked at mine, you would have no idea that I did it myself (unless you look at where the wires tap into each other), but from the outside of truck it looks factory

Wouldn’t it be in the part number? If the number is specific to 2016-2019, and there’s a new p/n for the ‘20 (I would say that is doubtful though), then there’s your answer. I would guess it is the same part...

Wait. The 2020 model does NOT have the keyless entry on the passenger side? So much for progress.

The one 2020 that I looked at at my dealer several days ago had the keyless on the passenger side as well as the drivers side.

Oh- I see. My bad. The 2020 does have keyless on both wings-- okay Toyota about time.

It’s the same door handle, ladies. There is too much overthinking here. Same truck, only been “refreshed”. Obviously the engineers at Toyota have been logging on to TW

Finally. I bought everything for this mod for myself as a gift last Christmas and just finished installing it. Whoop! Whoop! Praise be to me.

Now I gotta install the Plug N play harness to relocate USB port. I have it built and modified to fast charge the cell phone and to continously charge the ipod. Just gotta make the time and get motivated.

As was the OPs objective, I'll be running it to the center console so I can keep my ipod there, out of the way. Check out this thread. I'm not the OP but the original thread is somewhat outdated because as was pointed out to me, the original harness didn't take into account USB-C which didn't exist when the thread was started. With a lot of help here, I made a new schematic that will fast charge the newer phones and will keep constant power on the ipod. That schematic is Post #92 on the "Plug N play harness to relocate USB port" thread that I have linked.

I can't thank the OP of the "Plug N play harness to relocate USB port" thread enough.

Edit: I just wanted to add a little for those who will but haven't yet completed this mod. Start with 2 conductor sheathed wire. Remove both grommets that are attached to the door and the car. Disconnect both connectors on the car side that the wiring goes to from the door. It just makes it easier to pull the rubber that the wire goes through out into the open space between the car and the door. There is tape around the car end of the rubber but there is a visible slit. This is where you'll want to push your wiring through. If your wire is stout enough, you'll get it through. After that, I connected the wiring to the connector and plugged it into the door handle. Some people let the wire hang low. I put sticky backs along the inside of the door and tie wrapped the wire to them.

Installed the handle and ran the wiring today. Mine is not working, but I think I know why. I bought the repair wires from the eBay link posted earlier and one of the wires won’t go into the housing connector as snug. I tried switching the positaps and triple checked the solder between the repair wires and the wire going to the ECU so I am pretty confident the repair wire connection is the problem. If anyone else has suggestions for where else I may have messed up let me know.

Don’t know if this would cause an issue as well but the eBay repair wires were smaller than 22 gauge.

I was able to get the door handle working with the OEM Toyota repair wires.

The eBay wire connectors were not the same as the OEM ones and wouldn’t seat properly in the housing connector. C0FC7AC8-0AA0-45BB-A6CE-8DB885171599.jpg

I wonder if it would've seated if you took the seal out?

I used the OEM repair wires and found that I had to rotate them to find the right orientation where they seated into the housing.

The yellow wires with the seal are the OEM ones that I was able to get into the connector properly. If you look at the connector closely on the green wire it is slightly different than the OEM wire.

It actually took me a bit with the OEM wires to get them rotated just right to fit properly in the housing connector. I was never able to get the eBay ones to click into the housing

Has anyone else had luck getting the eBay ones to work?

I bought them and was planning on doing the install this weekend

So I installed my handle today and ran the wire to the drivers side while installing my meso puddle lights and door speakers....

Is it as simple as tapping into pin 3 and 4 in connector c29?

Right now I have a red wire to the top terminal in the handle and a black one to the bottom... Which ones does to pin 3 and which one to 4?

I believe it was opposite. The top wire (your red) goes to the bottom. And the bottom wire (your black) goes to the top. So the red top handle wire goes to pin 4 (green wire) and the black bottom handle wire goes to pin 3 (blue wire).

I'd suggest using the red posi-taps. It makes a much better connection.
