+1 on the boot... the disassembly is rather easy... pick the right wires in the dash... make good connections... and follow the directions @Victory provided. Glad it is standard in the new models. Good luck.

Its not that bad. You can take the boot off and squish it together to make it easier.

Yeah... what @renlo said. And I recommend you use speaker wires so you just go through the boot once. G'luck!

Does 22 gauge wires work for this mod and what would be the best taps for it? The only thing I don’t like is that is not a plug and play connection, people have mixed reviews tapping the wires. The good news is that I have talked to @KTJO 4x4 for her feedback and she is considering making a plug and play harness for this mod!

    T-taps are garbage. Use posi-taps.

22 AWG should be good enough. It's not carrying much current.

To tap the wires, I've been using these for all my mods: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MLPBPW5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

"Posi-Tap™ Connectors. Posi-Tap™ Connectors allow you to tap into hot leads without cutting or stripping them. Just insert wire to be tapped into the grey cap and hand tighten into the barrel. The conductor point pierces the tapped stranded wire without compromising its conductive integrity."

Are the T-taps any good? It seems like you can feed two wires into one, but not sure if they make a good connection once they are pressed inside.

I've never liked them. They don't always puncture the wire. They don't always stay closed. Posi-taps are easy and reusable. You put the live wire in the top and screw on the middle section. Strip the wire to be tapped, insert into tap and screw the retainer on. Done. Yes they are expensive, but they're very worth it.

Edit: if there's room, you can tap in multiple wires.

If used properly, they all should work. Keep in mind, these shouldn't be used where they will be exposed to the elements and will see a lot of "play." It should be... set it... make sure you have connection (test the circuit you just made) and store it away properly... then test it again to make sure you storing it didn't disturb the connection.

I did. Removing and reinstalling the door speaker isn't that hard and having access to that area while you're trying to feed wires through the boot is convenient.
