If it's an option, fine. But if I'm listening at 50 and that's a comfortable volume for me, I'd want it to stay at 50.

It is odd the way they mix and match features. I have a '17 tacoma and a '17 4runner in the driveway. The runner has a smaller head unit, keyed entry, non automatic or dual zone climate, but it does have auto on all the windows.

We paid the same for both rigs (close to it) and they're both TRD Off-road. It seems odd that all of the "luxury" amenities on the taco didn't make it into the 4runner.

I have a 17 Tacoma and the wife drives a 17 Rav4 and my experiences match yours. Rav has LED lights and driver and passenger door unlock handles. The Tacoma has a better head unit and GPS with an auto dimming mirror, the Rav has power seats... It amazes me everytime I switch between vehicles. The Rav4 was about 5k cheaper or so.

My wife's 4 year old Accord has speed sensitive wipers which would be nice to have. I can also unlock all the doors from touching either side of the car. And it has noise cancelation, which increases or decreases the stereo volume depending on road noise, ie, road speed and engine noise. All nice touches on a $28,000 car that I feel could or should be on the 3rd gen Tacoma. Her car has a few other things I wish I had but this is not the place to list them all. While I like the gadgets, it is still a truck.

Out of all of these, the lack of touch sensors on the passenger side doors is the one that annoys me most on my Tacoma.

Hopefully Toyota is looking at this thread. I would have paid the extra $20 it would have cost them to have the passenger handle unlock all the doors. Dumb decision on their part.

I rarely ever need to unlock it from passenger side, but yeah it would be nice to have.

For me it's just merely the fact that almost all the other Toyota models have the ability to unlock the doors from driver or passenger side, but their 40k truck doesn't and that is dumb. Again, my wife's 2012 Prius C has the ability, but not my '17 Tacoma. It's not enough to piss me off and want me to return it, but it is just a weird miss on Toyota's part

It's not an endeavor i'll try, but was looking at my wife's 2014 highlander. The passenger handle looks like it's the same shape and size, it has both drivers/passenger sensors.

Or it should have been included in the Premium and Technology package. That's a add on package anyway so if you wanted to included the package, what's an extra $50 to include a passenger side smart key handle.

I keep forgetting I bought a truck yet many bought a minivan that looks like a Tacoma. I am ecstatic that my truck has power windows. It has an extra seat on the passenger side if I ever were to bring a passenger. It has a box and a trailer hitch. The two things that a car wouldn't do and the reason why I bought a truck. A Tacoma is still a truck isn't it?

Besides isn't there an Escalade that has a box?

Ummm, smart key means I have the fob in my pocket or on my person somewhere. Approaching the truck from passenger-side, i.e., to be chivalrous and open the door for someone, reach into pocket, find fob, push unlock button twice. Easy. What am I missing about this?

" What am I missing about this?"

You won't have to "reach into pocket, find fob, push unlock button twice.".
Simply touch the door handle as you are opening it and it auto unlocks (like the driver side)

Try carrying groceries, a baby and holding a toddlers hand.

Much easier to reach for the handle than the key. Agreed it's worth doing. No reason they should have skipped this that I can see.

Also, MSRP on a Pro is $53K. Toyota sells cars close to half the price here with said features.

Just another mesojdm mod to do.

I think about this feature all the time... mainly because my wife's NX Fsport has this on all 4 doors and we use it every time we drive it.
Its such an odd missing feature that i wonder if Toyota does this on purpose, hoping to maybe get a few trade ins when the feature finally finds is way out (along with other improvements of course).
Anyway, I've been waiting for Toyota to put it on the new trucks so I can buy the parts and install them... thats the plan.

What kind of handle are you looking for? Highlander Passenger? Tacoma Driver?
I am anxious to see what you can come up with. This would be an awesome mod!

My wife has a NX also so I guess our expectation of the smart key would at least allow us to open the passenger front door on the Tacoma, I wasnt expecting all the doors, but that would have been awesome too!

It's technology! It's like saying, "what's up with these buttons to roll the windows up and down when all I need to do is crank this handle?"

That being said, you're right, it isn't too hard to reach into your pocket and grab the fob when you choose to be chivalrous... and I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
