I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma with a brand new battery and it is push start. The passenger floorboard got wet and I left windows down as well as parked it in the sun to dry out. Did not have any issues before this incident but now it is cranking but not firing. I have replaced the battery, checked fuses, there is half a tank of gas in the truck but still no luck getting it to fire. If she does die up she cuts off after a few seconds. The brake system check and charging system issue shows on the dash but I am stuck on where I need to start pulling things apart and replacing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As you think it’s most likely related to the water. If you pull the kick panel on the passenger side, can inspect the area and look for damage. There are some ECUs that are located on that side. Cranking but no start can often be related to the vehicle security system. You made it need to have a professionally diagnosed.

Sucks to have all this happen 5 and a half hours from home, where I have all my tools.

This truly sucks…….may be best to simply have it towed to a shop. A water logged truck and electronics is a nightmare

The first thing I would do would be to go to AutoZone and buy a spark plug, pull a wire, and see if you have spark.

I was able to finally have somebody come over to watch my granddaughter while I go work on my truck and I have left the negative cable off of the new battery all night to see if that helped. When I went down to try to see if my fuel pump was working she cranked right up no issue. Drove her around the block no issues turned her off cranked her back up with no issues again. Hopefully she just needed to dry out and once I get back home Monday I will take everything else apart to run more tests just to make sure no more issues occur. Thank you everyone for your help!
