Passenger floor mat keeps moving

Thanks for posting this fix! This has been kinda driving me nuts for almost a year!

 

I just ordered my VW clips from eBay. My insanity from the sliding passenger mat will soon be stopped !!!

I placed mine in same position as well. Seems to be working. But I didnt tap the screw holes. Not really necessary, they screw right in. I got the floor mat locks from the link in this thread (the VW part #'s). I dont see any need for a gasket. Mine are all pretty tight when I snap them together. Makes me wonder whats different? Are you all sure they are together all the way? I had to push pretty hard on a table surface to get the final click.

 

they're supposed to be difficult to put together because they're not meant to come apart. Usually customer's floor mats wear out makes a giant hole for the hook/clamp thing to come off, before the clamp itself actually failing.

 

Industrial strength Velcro plus a little Permatex super glue. Fixed.

 

If you have a little patience, this international seller has a great price. this listing is for 8 (which is what I bought. Wifes subaru holders suck.) but the seller has auctions for 2,4 or 8. $12.36 due to arrive 1/5-1/18 so that no big deal.

I tried a couple of different types of glue to attach Velcro strips to the underside of the mat with no success. I tried Gorilla glue (original formula) to attach "3M Scotch Extreme Fasteners" (super duty type of Velcro) and so far it's working. I clamped the 3M fasteners in place for an hour to ensure a good bond. We'll see if it holds up over time.
BTW, this was my first experience with Gorilla glue. That stuff really does expand as the directions say. A little goes a long way.

 

Got the clips in a couple weeks ago. Haven't had time to install. Need to make that a priority tomorrow.

 

I installed the clips and my matts are fixed solid now.

I had this problem and was determined to find a solution.

Come Christmas morning I get a set of Husky liners and boom no more issue. The entire mat has hooked little teeth under it and it doesn't slide around at all.




My 2013 had the retainers on both sides for driver and passenger, why did they suddenly think this was not needed when half of the Toyotas owners manual say to check the position of the floor mat every time its in for service? lol

Ive been using the VW clips for about a month now. No complaints. I dont know why anyone would mess with glue or velcro. These work like the stock drivers side clips.

 

Finally installed the VW mat retainers. Works like a factory piece. Thank you to the member who found these!

 

Every time I read this tread title, my mind leaves out the mats and I wonder at first how the passenger side floor can move... then I realize that it would be worse if got left behind.

 

VW mat clips work perfectly. No reason to waste time with anything else.

 

I refuse to order from them ever again.
Two fuckin times my credit card was compromised from them because they have (had?) shit security on their website.

 

are you saying you glued the mat to the floor?
How is that a better option than putting a little tab on the floorboard and mat? lmao
