I ended up picking up some tabs on eBay that look just like the OEM ones. Then I cut some holes in my all weather mats and installed them. The clip part just screws into the floor. Done deal.

I ordered the clips from ECS since I also needed a couple items for my funcar.

Haven't had any issues with card security on prior orders. Used paypal for this one just 'cuz it was easier this time.

As for cards getting stolen -- sometimes it seems to be an inside job at an issuer. A few months ago I had my corporate card number compromised and I hadn't used it for months. Also had a personal card from that same issuer compromised and it also had been unused for a while. As these were credit cards and not debit cards the matter was sorted out quickly and simply with no grief.

this is going back a few years ago and it was a known issue to the point ECS posted on their VW vortex page apologizing.

Either way I just went to the dealer for them. ECS wants $40 shipping to canada and the parts where $9 and $12. After exchange rate its even cheaper here, so they had the mat clips in stock and will have the knobs for me tomorrow.

@Joe23 yeah, cross-border shipping does tend to complicate stuff. I'd do the same if the shipping had been expensive. In this case it was free and effectively saves me trips to two different dealers.

it must be a recent change because it was never that bad when I ordered from them in the past. Also used to include brokerage fees covered. They've definitely changed a lot since last time I dealt with them.

Now a month later, the mat hasn't moved a bit! My wife rides there all the time, so if the mat was going to slip, it would have by now. Quick easy fix.

Those are pretty cool looking. My only question would be how easy it is to re-align them after taking the mats out for cleaning.

Not sure these would fit with the design of the all weather Tacoma mats. If you look at the mats, these fasteners would need to be installed away from the corners, it seems. There's a pretty big ridge right behind where the mats butt up to.

Stupid question. Do these VW carpet screws actually go through the floor board, or just the carpet, and insulation? If they don't go thru any metal, then I'm putting em in. This passenger mat is making me unhappy, and I won't stand for that, lol.

Only through carpet, into the insulation.

The new design all weather mats do not move on the passenger side. They are made completely different

Do you have pictures of the new ones? many of us already have the "all weather liners" vs the older "all weather mats"

I plan to get at this in a week or two. Not gonna make a special trip, but will hit the big city soon enough for a couple.

luckily dealer was on the way home from work.

i used an exacto knife to cut the mat and an awl to poke the carpet to start it.

i'm thinking of using the other two since it comes as a set of 4, for the back.
