My passenger seat has been rattling pretty loudly for a while now and it’s starting to drive me crazy. I checked all 4 of the bolts where it mounts to the floor and they’re all tight.
When it’s rattling I can put my hand on the seat bolster next to the center console and feel it rattle, when I push down it stops the rattle but I can still feel movement. Where is this rattle coming from, the sliding rails? If anyone can point me in the direction of where to check I’d appreciate it. Hopefully it’s something that can be tightened up or shimmed so this incessant rattle can finally stop!

    thank you for any help!

Try pressing the seat back toward the back when you hear the rattle and see if the rattle goes away. Not much under the seat to come loose that would make a rattling sound.

Some folks have been successful at bending parts of the rails to stop the rattle- but it then becomes more difficult to slide the seat back and forth.

I’m wondering if it’s possibly the connection between the floor frame and the seat bracket?

Anyone have a solution? I've been noticing the same rattle with the passenger seat in my 2001.

Not as of yet, life gets in the way and I haven’t gotten around to taking the seat out of the truck to see what’s going on yet. Hopefully I can get to it before winter hits. At a guess, it seems to be something between the bracket and the seat, all the connections between bracket and floor are solid and without play. I’ll update this when I get around to taking that seat out.

I had a very obnoxious rattle in the passenger seat whenever I was off-road. For some reason long since forgotten, I took the head rest out and the rattle went away. Just sayin'...

Might be the joint area where the seat bottom connects to the seat back? Otherwise as others mentioned- check the seat rails as BMWs have had issues with twisted seat rails. Good luck!

Rather that guess, remove the seat from the truck, and take a look at it.
    The answer might be obvious.
