Shaft bearing? Probably easier replacing cv axle itself. U tube has lots of vids, pretty easy.

I replaced the driver side with the 8" clamshell, it was easy. passenger side looks like a whole different ball game.

Looks like a inner and outer c clip are holding the bearing inside a tube..

Whats the cost of the bearing? My cv axles at Napa were 50.00 a piece with hd boots. Cheaper imo. What are ur symptoms?

Here's the reply I received from ECGS on removing the passenger side ball bearing:The passenger side tube bearing appears to be held in with a inner and
outer c clips. My question is once those clips are removed, will the
    bearing come out easy?
    Thanks
"No it will not, the ball bearing needs to be removed with a slide hammer."

    Thanks

    Curtis

Plus, it will be pretty difficult to install the new bearing on straight.

Homemade (heavy) front bumper, currently on new Wheeler 3inch springs (yielded ~2.5inches over stock springs with tacoma 5100s topped out) on Tundra 5100s, and an add-a-leaf in rear, new 5125 rear
Reviving an old thread. Did you ever replace the passenger side bearing on the diff? I need to do mine, just wondering how difficult it is to get out.

I'm thinking of doing mine as well and I like to do a little research into projects like this before I tackle it. Did you change yours and any information would be greatly appreciated.

There are two snap rings, one holds the axle shaft in the housing and the other holds the bearing onto the shaft. You need a bearing splitter and a press to remove and replace it, see my old thread here

Ok, so if understand... basically remove a snap ring and that allows you to pull the CV shaft out and then remove another snap ring, press the old bearing off, press the new one on. Put snap ring back in place. Put the shaft back in and the snap ring that holds it there.

Yep, that's exactly it. the snap ring that holds it in the housing actually goes around the outer race of the bearing and seats on a groove in the housing. The snap ring that holds the bearing onto the axle shaft fits into a groove on the axle shaft itself. From what I remember when I did this a few years ago, the bearing wasn't on there very tight, you might even get by with a socket and hammer to remove/install.

I have access to a hydraulic press so I can get it off/on just have to be careful not to damage anything.
I have some movement up and down on both CV shafts. Seems to be the whole shaft moving and not at the joints but not for certain. I think I will her the ecgs bushing and do driver side first. While I have the shaft out I should be able to tell where the slop is from. I may need new CV shafts. How much play is normal?

Not sure there are any specs from the OEM, but there should be very little radial play once the CV shaft snap ring is locked into the side gear assembly
