Can someone tell me what exactly this is? I have water dripping from it and I don't know why, primarily because I have no idea where it leads to. My assumption is that it's apart of the HVAC box but I'm not sure.

Clogged A/C drain? I know mine drips when it's running/after it has run, which leads me to believe it isn't clogged, but I'm not quite sure.

I've had this once before about a year ago, happened once and then never again until now.

Looks like mine had a cap on it. I'm just looking at my pictures. I haven't looked at the truck.

Is your cabin air filter wet?

    No, first thing I checked.

That's incredibly interesting that yours has a cap on it. Does the cap come off?

I didn't take it off at the time I removed the HVAC box. Honestly I never even noticed it was there until you mentioned it and I thought I'd check my pictures. I'll check my truck and get back to you soon.

Just looked and both mine and my dad's 06 TRD Off Road, They are both closed off. It's not even a cap, just solid plastic.

That's interesting. Hopefully, other people can chime in and answer as to how theirs is.

Yeah weird. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I should clarify mine are hollow just not open. Seems like it's a drain for the 1st hallway that the blower motor blows into except apparently not mine....must be a small change to the box at some point.

Well, it seems to have done it again today. Both yesterday and today are humid days that I have ran the defrost on, I’m thinking it’s connected.

    Appears to be water/condensate.

One of those known issues from 2005 up. If you look you’ll find multiple threads on this and multiple service bulletins. More than one reason for the leaks and you have to eliminate the potential problem areas one by one. Sometimes the leaks happen right after windshield replacement.

I don't think you'd be getting water from the intake cowl without the cabin air filter getting wet. It is the most common place thou. I don't know if the AC Evap camber is full of condensation because the AC drain is clogged and spilling over makes any sense?

    IMG_1773.jpg

The bottom most black hose is the AC drain. It exits the AC Evap camber in the middle of the box and routes to the passenger side. Double check it's still routed outside the truck. It's that bad design that puts it right above the passenger frame rail.

If not that then maybe check the AC Expansion valve. You can pull away the rubber grommet on the firewall from the back of the engine bay for easier access to see it.

    Good luck.

Your first part is something I had been pondering, I’m going to take some weed whacker line and push it up evap drain and see if anything comes out. I’m doubtful it’s clogged because I always get a nice steady trickle coming out of it, usually a nice sized puddle underneath my truck.

    I’ll look at that first.

In terms of the A/C expansion valve, what would I be looking for? Drips around it? Built up condensation? Possibly a stupid question but I’m not as versed on A/C systems as I would like to be.

Thanks for the response, I’ll start digging through the TSBs and see if any pop up. The only immediate one I know of is the leak around the cowl but based off of where my leak is coming from I’m thinking that isn’t the issue.

Following this. I encountered this for the first time on Sunday. Slight water drip from the same exact tube-thing under the dash.

    Hoping you find a solution!

I'm not sure either, to be clear I'm a novice as well. That area is just above that down spout. I'd take a flash light and pull it away just to get a look for peace of mind. It wont come away too far cause of the hose clips but it shouldn't be too hard to put back after you check. I don't know for sure that those area's even connect so it's your call ultimately. Good luck and be careful.

Here is a picture of the box with the top off.

Definitely very humid, I don’t think I had defrost but I had been running the A/C for about 2.5 hours and then shut the truck off to get gas.

Wondering if it just was condensate that didn’t make it out of the evap because I shut the truck off?

That was my thought as well. Had it happened yesterday and today, both extremely humid. I had my defrost on today and yesterday which also runs the A/C.
