I have a 2017, 4,300 miles on it. It has been back to the dealership 4 times in the last 4 months for the dash rattles. The rattling drives me nuts! The way I look at it- I paid over 35K for this truck, the dealership can deal with doing the repairs. I've had 2 Dodge Rams and a F-150 in the last 10 years, and have always admired the Tacoma. Now im regretting my decision. I'm not happy with my Tacoma

My overhead console rattles like crazy when I'm driving on anything but the most pristine road surface. Between that and the complete lack of any power below 3500RPM I'm very much regretting straying from Honda.

I had rattling noises from the right side speaker area on the dash. I had the truck at the dealership 5 times overall. The 5th time I took a Toyota engineer on a road test with me, and he videoed the noises. They ended up replacing several parts including the speaker over there. Anyway, I highly suggest opening up a "case" with Toyota which will end up requiring an engineer to get involved. Once the engineer is involved- I assure you that.the results will be better than if you just take it in to the dealership for repairs.

It is what it is, concerning the rattles and ticking on the Tacoma.
    I’ve had vehicles with less.

Instead of spending so much time traveling to the dealership, hanging out at the dealership and taking rides with representatives of the dealership, I think it’s a lot easier, faster and efficient to just fix these little problems myself. Plus, you get satisfaction from solving the problem and doing it yourself, and maybe learning something at the same time.

Most people can do this stuff themselves.
Read Tacoma World, ask people on Tacoma World, watch You Tube or look it up on the internet.

You’re never too young or old to learn how to take stuff apart and put it back together.
    You can do it!

It may be the A pillar cover and the dash rubbing or quickly bouncing or vibrating off each other. Put a piece of felt tape between those two pieces where they meet. That seemed to have solved mine. And mine came up when it was cold in the mornings. It may be due to weather and items expanding and shrinking.

I bought a center console organizer!
I have a 2019 model that I just bought this past Sept. When it was warm here in Phoenix I didn't hear a thing. Now that we've moved into our winter time, I can definitely hear it every morning. Glad I found this post and I've gone super lazy route by forcing a small strip of black electrical tape in there to see if it fixes the sound.
