PA state forests sites now cost $10 a night plus a service fee to reserve. If you go back to the first post of this thread I have links to each area that I visited and posted so far highlighting some good sites and a few of the high clearance roads. When I started posting here the sites were free but each forest had a different system for reserving a site. One reason they went to the fee system was to discourage people reserving sites and then not using them. Reservations are a way for the forests to keep track of how much demand there is, and where the demand is. Some of the forests have been actively closing, moving, or creating new sites based on their use. Most forest roads, except those labled high clearance, are graded gravel but maintenance level varies greatly between forest, amount of traffic, and remoteness.
