good catch. I meant to say rock sliders. I've now deleted that from my to-do list.

That'd be nice. I've bought my tacoma at a pretty good price and can actually profit from selling it (even trading in to dealership). Have 4gen in order and to be delivered April, so I'll revisit my options at that time. That has higher payload than mine.

yeah. I've deleted sliders from my list and scepter cans. I had RTT from my other vehicle so that's gotta stay and I enjoy it. :)

I blame YouTube videos... those trucks look awesome and highly capable, but I realized those with a lot of gears/equipment all probably exceeded payload, unless they did something to increase payload (impossible).

I want to play safe here, so probably go lighter as many here suggested.

It's my first truck so I never had to put payload into equation in the past.

Probably be a lot better off getting rated leaf springs, even with the the RAS over the stock leaf pack I doubt it's going to help in the long run, it's only going to get worse over time very quickly, I know this because I'm running a Decked drawer with another 200LBs of tools in the drawer.

It's only been two months and now the truck is really putting on quite the impression of a Carolina squat that I need to remove the factory lift on the front until I can get some new leaf springs myself.

I'd still run the RAS if you already have it, it helps with axle twist and acts like a little dynamic swaybar, cheaper then a rear sway bar, but still not stiff enough to match the front suspension, even with the front sway bar removed.

Also, look into aluminum armor if you really really need armor, steel is very over rated unless you go literally rock bashing. JD Fabrication for example has the best rockslider design that makes use of the body for extremely lightweight, yet very strong sliders. But pretty much, don't really bother with bumpers unless you A. Smash the front or rear bumper to pieces, or B. You want a winch.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The other option I'm considering is to install a rack to hang RTT in my garage when not in use.

I'd like to stay stock as much as I can. Knowing me, rear leaf upgrades would probably lead me to full suspension upgrades. Who knows what would come after that? Big brakes and 35s? It'll never end for me. :p

Which trim are you getting? Most trims only have a 1200 lbs payload, don’t get the 1700 unless it is the Trail Hunter or Pro, since they are getting the rear diff out of the Tundra and additional frame strengthening.

I'm getting the offroad trim DC and saw this doc saying it's around 1,400 lbs minimum. I'm def. checking the sticker though.

Good advice! I live in Moab so I'm going up and down ledges regularly in my stock OR. Only time I scratched my front bumper was going up a ledge I had no business going up with my stock setup. If you're worried about banging up your hitch, you can always buy a hitch skid plate. Here's what I have. Works like a champ.

Yeah. I don't want lift and want to maintain stock look. Heavy duty leaf springs that won't raise the rear. Where would one get a custom pack made? Any recommendations?
