    Hi,

I have a 2017 Double Cab 4x4 Sport tacoma with short bed. I need to transport a new generator. I looked at the user manual but coudnt find an answer for the maximum payload. The generator weights 650 lbs plus the 50 gal diesel fuel tank that should weight 300 lbs empty. So it will be a total of about 1,000 lbs give or take. Can i transport it in my Tacoma? It will be mainly highway.

    Thanks in advance...

Check your door jam. The label with you're tire pressure info will have your payload rating. This is not including driver or any passengers. I'm guessing you will have 1,100 lbs available minus weight from accessories.

Could use a trailer if you have or rent one from u haul. I don’t think you’ll need a load distribution hitch but they have those for rent too.

This is another member with 1000lbs in the bed, stock, no sag, love the OEM springs, more payload than aftermarkets and last forever. They cost you $0

Don’t hate, I hauled 1500 lbs with little sag and 3500 lb trailer in tow, cost me nothing. The aftermarket fanboys are always hating and come into the forums asking why their suspension sucks after spending $3000.

I’ll post up the pic of mine with stock everything, have to look up my photos. Maybe I just had a special stock truck.

no hate at all. There is zero chance stock 3 leafs are better than an aftermarket pack. I had stock and now got dakars, night and day difference.

You probably have a special truck. My stock leafs are flat or are bowing in reverse and I don’t haul anything that heavy.

Actually 100% chance, for me stock leafs are better for overload and I’ll run them for years. And in those same years a bunch of people will be bitching in here about how they can’t haul shit and their leaf pack makes a bunch of noise.

Maybe I just have a special truck like all the other 650,000 3rd Gen Tacomas.

I’ve had success with them hauling a shit ton and towing, don’t know what’s up with yours.

Actually all stock springs are like that. There is no rule nor is there an advantage to having springs bowed upward, except lift. I'm pretty sure Toyota knows what happens when their springs settle and account for that on initial setup.

That's my truck you bum. The bish didn't eat bump stops either for the 40 mile round trip.

I have a hauled a fair amount of stuff but do not know the particular weights. Anyhoo, 1000lb? Heck yeah I would do it, but not daily nor over a long trip. I worry about brakes more than anything else, but thats me

Towing and hauling are more than just suspensions. There is a reason why GVWR exists other factors include, brakes, transmission, engine, suspension, etc...
