For those of you that have capitalized on this insane market and sold , how did you accept payment for your 3rd gen? I mean counting and walking around with like 30-40k cash is kinda odd right ? Then again cash is king ? Bitcoin ? Gold ? Hummm….

Most banks will take whatever you bring in but anything over $10k in cash, they will report to the IRS.

No, they'll take any amount but over 10k they have to report to the Feds by law. Part of policing dirty money and tax evasion. In theory anyway.

Sold my F250 and the dealer I sold it to gave me a check. Deposited it into my account and invested the majority of it.

If the buyer is a legit business, we'll figure it out.

If the buyer is an individual I have known for a good while and trust, we'll figure it out.

If the buyer is a random person, or one I 'know' and don't particularly trust, we'll meet at their bank and I'll receive the funds directly from them, not the buyer.

Cash only from strangers! Even this can be dicey. Sold a motorcycle a few years ago and the buyer was about to hand me a sealed cash envelope. Asked him to open it and count it on the work bench in front of me which he reluctantly did. It was light and balance magically appeared from his pocket. No sale!

It’s ridiculous to expect someone to come up with $40k in cash, if dealing private party. I purchased my truck recently and did so via wire transfer to the sellers account, just waited for it to clear before taking possession of the truck — easy stuff.

If receiving money from a private individual, best bet would be to go to the bank with them and collect a cashiers check, so you know it’s legit. Too many scams and counterfeit cash these days.
