When I traded in my car, I went through Carvana specifically to avoid this issue with private-party sales.
Carvana made an automated offer over email, then sent someone out who did a quick walkaround and handed me a check.

the dude says he's going to his bank , pulling out 40k cash and going with me to my bank so they can count it and deposit it. I am amazed at how willing people are to buy these tacos. I feel bad , I keep acting like a wishy washy little bitch because I like this dumb truck too much . I keep delaying and keep asking for a higher and higher price just so they back out and I wont have to sell. I mean the price jumped up and up till 40k, for an sr5 4x4 with over 50,000 miles (granted many mods). Still they want to buy?! I feel like I am being pranked or trolled. Very very odd times.. I don't know , probably the worst financial decision if I don't sell. Pishhhh 3rd gen problems...

Carvane lowballed me bad, 28.5k . Private party I got 35-40k offers. The exact same Toyota dealer I purchased the truck from new in 2018, called and said 34k. CarMax offered same.

Maybe we should shift our currency to a Tacoma based economy? For example, a gal of milk should run about 0.0001 Tacoma units.

I sold my 2017 Off Road 4x4 to a guy locally and I met him at his credit union and they printed me a cashier's check, so I knew I wasn't going to have any problems at all. The only thing is my credit union placed a hold on it for about 3 days.
