ok, no matter what I do, I cannot get stereo from my pc speakers. It has Realtek HD audio.
No matter what I do, the left channel wont play, only the right (tested by various songs including bohemian raphsody)
    Heres what i've done.
    1. Latest drivers installed direct from Realtek, then even more up to date ones direct from ASUS
2 BIOS setting is enabled. I disabled it and only the Nvidia HDMI audio worked and that wasnt stereo either
    3. Tried different cables-stereo jack to speakers, to mix board, and stand alone headphones, all had left speaker missing. So its not a cable issue.

I think my only thing left to try is the AAFP audio connector on the motherboard.
Any other suggestions? Its a ASUS H270-PLUS board, i7 64gb

No stereo out of the HDMI or the Realtek? Sounds like a software issue to me. I'll start the comments by blaming windows.

Maybe boot a live distro and see if you have two channels to isolate a software issue with your main OS.

If you're not compiling a custom kernel in Slackware, are you really even trying?

I know what it is, just dont have one handy. I suspect the port has gone bad. I'll try the USB add-ons. Im not looking for HD audio, just basic stereo.

I would fiddle with whatever windows settings you can - all the sliders, especially anything that looks like a balance slider. The fact that the HDMI and the realtek are both having issues suggest that the problem is upstream. Especially since HDMI is a digital signal, so it either has both channels or no channels.

Most importantly you must manufacture your own processors and memory to make sure no critters got embedded during manufacturing.

Let's fix his audio issues before we teach him about TOR. lol

There is something super cool about a kernel that has your comps name in the build name. Ever try installing ARCH before it had an installer? Yeah, that was fun if you had a 30 pack and a weekend to kill. lol

Could be. What OS are you on?

Lol. I liked the arch installer, it was pretty no nonsense. I did a gentoo stage 3 exactly once back in the day - literally a weekend killer

These days if it takes more than 20 minutes I get grumpy (which is why I hate windows updates)

My Chinese security cameras are giving a more interesting show than intel could ever hope to get. I live in the country and pee outside.
