Thinking I might order an axe and shovel as well as some quick-fist mounts to mount them and the hi-lift....

    How is your sub/amp grounded?
I'm thinking i'm gonna just ground mine to the seat bolt.

Hmm, now that you ask I can't remember... Haha

I'm assuming I did that, since mine sits right under my seat.

    Cool

To pull a HU I just remove the plastic trim and insert the keys in the side, right?

And what would be the best way to run the power and RCA's?

I think i'm gonna put the sub under the passenger seat and run the power under the carpet through the grommet on the drivers side to battery, and the RCA's under the passenger door seal (plastic piece) and run them up behind the dash.
Does that sound plausible? I'll have 17ft long power cable (positive only) and 17 ft of RCA's and the other wire that tells the amp to turn on.

Here's a great link on removing the headunit...
    http://www.mikewood.org/truck-dash.asp

Yeah, keep the large power and ground away from the RCA cable as much as possible to reduce interference. That's how I did mine, but with the subwoofer behind the driver seat. Should be enough cable.

Grounding there is fine unless your pushing a really sensitive amp, I've got a JL slash for my sub and I had to do a different grounding point. Seat belt should work fine just grind a little paint off to make it better

Cool, hopefully i won't have to pull it that far apart (i think i have instructions left from the install we did in my cousins 04 pre runner).

OK, sounds pretty simple to do.

What do you mean by that far? Everything in that how-to is needed to be able to get access to the radio...

You have to get access to those 4 bolts to remove the radio...

What part were you thinking didn't need to be removed?

    All the AC controls.

there's the cage that bolts into where the factory radio go's, then the aftermarket radio slides into that cage, no?

Yup, the a/c panel and knobs have to be removed to get access to 2 out of the 3 bolts that hold that dash piece in that covers the bolts to the radio "cage".

Yes, but that cage is held in by those 4 bolts.

No problem. It's very easy. 8 bolts and you'll be able to pull the whole radio/din out. Should only take a couple minutes.
