Hey have you tuned your CB antenna yet? I think I have a bad ground to my antenna. I was wondering if the powdercoating on the BAMF mount would be the culprit. I've never owned a CB so this is all new to me. I've probed both PL-259 connections with a multimeter and they looked good, so I'm assuming it's a ground issue because I can't get an SWR reading lower than 5.

I know this isn't a question directed at me, but I too have a B.A.M.F. powder coated mount for my CB antenna, and I tuned it to a 1:1 ratio a few weeks ago so I think you might have to check your ground source and double check everything just to be sure

That helps a lot, thanks. I'm going to recheck tonight to be sure. I bought two new PL-259 connectors as well just in case I have a short in there. I'll also sand down the paint a little on my truck to get a better ground. Other than that, I really hope I don't have a kink somewhere in the coax that's causing a short because that was kind of a pain in the ass to run haha. The other issue I didn't think about is the fact that I have the coax running next to my powercable to my amp. It runs next to it for about a 2 feet. Hopefully that isn't it because I don't know how else to route it.

mm nope I don't believe running your coax by your amp power wire should affect it at all. I would just recheck everything, and make sure you're tuning your antenna properly. If you still can't figure it out then get at me on this forum and we'll get it figured out eventually lol

Well I did have a short in one connection so I redid that and it's good. Also tested the coax and it's all good. So that leaves me back at a bad ground. Probed it and found I have a high ohm reading from my chassis to the BAMF mount. So I think I need to scrape some powder coating off of it. Gotta go to a movie but ill try to do it later. I'll report back. Sorry for the thread jack btw but I figured it'd help you out too if you hadn't tuned it yet.

OK I'm back. With the stud you used for your antenna, do the threads of it touch the BAMF mount when you push it up through the hole on the mount? I had to jam mine in pretty good and I'm thinking it's causing a short somewhere which is preventing a good ground for me. Or is this required? I know the part attached to the threads on the underside of the mount should be making contact with the mount, but I believe once you go through the mount on the topside of it they should only be in contact with the centerpin of the coax. Hence the nylon washer included with the stud.

Hmm, I had to grind mine out slightly but it is still jammed in like you had to do. I still haven't gotten mine tuned, so for all I know mine might not be working either. :notsure: sorry I can't be more help man.

Hey no worries. Just trying to figure it out. I'm about to drill the hole out larger to see if that's the problem but I'd rather not. I've switched from that project to rewiring my light bars/switches to a fuse panel behind my dash. Trying to clean up the mess I made a few months ago haha

Touched up my sliders and installed LEDs for the gauges, shifter, map lights, dome lights and license plate lights. I'll get a pic of the LEDs later tonight.
