PcBuilder's 2003 Tacoma Build

So Thursday afternoon through Sunday night I went to the Thrill on the Hill FJ Rally.

It was awesome being able to talk personally to vendors like Jason at Demello Offroad and Toytec Lifts.

I took a lot of pictures and have about 60gb of video to go through. So far I only have pics. Here they are:

Crap. Looking at how your rear tires are stuffed...I may need bigger bump stops. I'd probably be eating fenders.




Still...the fronts may not be as bad as I was anticipating--at least as long as I leave my sway bar on.

At any rate, I'm kinda . That's two pretty awesome looking trips you took there. That's beautiful country and it looks like a lot of fun. Can't wait to get my stupid spacers Friday so I can put my front tires on so I can hit the trails.

Oh, BTW, any problems with the spacers?

 

No problems at all with the spacers. People warned me that my lug nuts might not have enough thread, but I've put my truck through some tough stuff and have had no problems.

 

'K, thanks. I was thinking that they'd put more strain on the lug studs and maybe lead to some breakage, but if you haven't had any problems, then I don't think it's worth worrying about...of course, I'm Lincoln locked up front so the lug studs may be the least of my concerns, lol.

 

Do you happen to have any pics of your sliders from the front or back showing how far the kick outs stick out?

You can cut the legs that mount the sliders to the frame as short as you want. This is as far as you can make them stick out unless you angle the horizontally instead of slightly angled.

 

Thanks guys, i think i'll have my slider built slightly custom, adam (at 4x inno) said they could make my kick outs a inch bigger (more kicky outy ey) if i wanted.

 

That's what I was thinking. Mine are mounted flat and I'm running 13.50s on 15x8 wheels with 3.75" BS instead of 12.50s and my kickouts still stick out nearly a tube width further than my tires. I guess maybe if he was planning to run wider than 13.50s or 15x12 wheels or something...but to each their own I guess.

 

I agree with Ben. The kickouts are definitely wide enough and, in my opinion, wouldn't look as good or serve a better purpose by having a farther kickout.

The angle also gives you more clearance as well as protects a little further up than if they were flat.

Now if only they had kickups, could have used some labor day weekend.... Haha

Since you're running the same wheel/spacer set up as me, and I recall reading that you had about the same amount of thread engagement as I seem to have, I thought I'd pass on a heads up for info on longer studs...

I found them at Summit Racing for $21.97 (+$4.95 shipping) for a pack of ten. Gonna order them and then see about getting a couple singles from a local parts house. (edit: Advance has the singles for $2.99 a pop. Total cost for the peace of mind of more thread engagement on the lug nuts: $33.32.)

 

I just want a little more protection, but if i mount them flat though it should be enough.

Hey did you use the 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base light in the color Cool White?

If it's not obvious... I WANT WHAT YOU HAAAAS

 

If cool white is the non-blue looking one then yes haha

 

Shit I just went back & they have.. cool white, warm white and natural white.

Either I'm too tired or I need a girl nearby to tell me which one I'm going for lol
